Hello,

I learned a lot of knowledge about diamond through reading this website. Thank you!

Now, we are considering these two diamonds (both E colour, VS2, Excellent cut), they are at the same price, but I don't know which one should I choose.

The first:
Measurement: 6.48-6.51x3.97mm
Depth: 61.2%
Table: 58%
Crown Angle: 33.5
Crown Height: 14.0%
Pavilion Angle: 41.4
Pavilion Depth: 43.5%
Star Length: 50%
Lower Half: 80%
Girdle: 3.5%
Culet: None

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The second:
Measurement: 6.44-6.48x3.97mm
Depth: 61.5%
Table: 59%
Crown Angle: 34
Crown Height: 14.0%
Pavilion Angle: 41.2
Pavilion Depth: 44%
Star Length: 50%
Lower Half: 80%
Girdle: 3.5%
Culet: None

The HCA of the first one is 3.9 and the second one is 3.5
They all 1.01ct but the measurements of the second one are smaller than the first one.
Another thing that I don't know is weather the surface graining mentioned in the comments of the second diamond a big issue in a VS 2 diamond.

I prefer the second one because the types of the inclusions are less, but I don't like its smaller diameter and I don't know weather I should worry about the things listed in the "comments" or not.

Any suggestions?

Thank you for your help!

Okay, neither one. You want the HCA score to be 2 or less. Both of those stones have unacceptable pavilion angles.

These are measurements to help you stay in ideal cut territory with a GIA excellent cut stone.

table: 54-58

depth: 60-62.3

crown angle: 34-35.0

pavilion angle: 40.6-40.9 (sometimes 41.0)

Thank you diamondseeker. Except of HCA score, is there any type of inclusions that I'd better avoid if I purchase a VS2 stone?

Well, not really. You have to see the stone or have the stone evaluated for clarity by the jeweler. Because VS2's can be vastly different based on location and type of inclusions. They are usually eyeclean but not always. Black crystals can sometimes be seen, so I would be cautious about that. But really, every stone has to be individually evaluated.
