Hi all,

I need help from the experts on locating a nice setting/stone. I already have a date in mind as to when I am going to propose... labor day weekend! I just need the ring.

SETTING STYLE: Halo cushion setting with split shank
CUT: Round
Clarity: SI1 preferred, maybe look at SI2 if inclusion is on the side and not noticeable from the eye.
Color: F
Carat: 1ct - 1.25ct /1.50ct if it's in my price range.
Cost: ~$10K for setting and stone.

Thanks in advance!

As one who knows should know, there is no PM on these forums to protect us from scammers and trolls.

OP, one or more of pricescope's real helpers will be along to assist you right quick.

I'm not big on James Allen pave but I'll post what they have...the first one is Martin Flyer (so not JA).

I'm not thrilled with either of those. I dont like how they do their split shanks and just not thrilled with the pave in either. I would
rather see you go to David Klass to get the setting done. Thinking the setting would run maybe $2500 with him but that's just a guess.
You would need to get an estimate.
Here is his email:

He is also on pinterest and facebook I think.

So, if we say max $3000 for the setting then here is a stone that would work for you

You would have to ask if this is eye-clean. Is there a reason you are going so high on color? You would have more options
if you would go down to G/H.

Also, if you dont want to go the custom route you could try Henry Daussi settings. Since1910 carries them and I think ID Jewelry
used to carry them but not sure if they still do. You would need to ask. ID Jewelry would probably be less expensive.

http://www.since1910.com/henri-daussi-amjl-split-shank-diamond-engagement-ring see if they can do this for a round

Since 1910 setting

Thank you for the information!! :)

Custom setting will not working with my schedule because I'm trying to propose soon. I'm trying to get the best diamond for the price. I don't want to look at lower specs to get a bigger diamond. I want it to sparkle more if you would put it next to a bigger stone with lower specs.

Looks like the market price is around $6500 for a 1ct F color diamond.

Labor Day is still what, 6weeks away? you have some time. At least TALK to DK

So, just because a diamond is F color and VVS or IF clarity doesn't mean it will sparkle more than a H diamond with SI1 clarity. CUT is what you want to focus on first and foremost. If that F color stone is not cut well, a well cut H will outshine it ANY day of the week. For a 1ct stone, H will be great in a halo, it will still look plenty white. Look at the knowledge tab on color as well as cut and clarity. Don't think you NEED an F colored stone.

You need to check out the KNOWLEDGE tab and educate yourself before running to buy the whitest, best clarity stone you can find. The experts here (who do this because they love to help, not any other reason!) can help you find an amazing stone and setting. Contact DK and VC! They may be able to get you a ring within your timeframe. If you absolutely don't want to go that route, check out Gabriel & Co settings, they should have something that would work for you. ID Jewelry could get the setting and stone for you, one stop shopping. Call, give him your budget and what you're looking for (PS quality stone) and i would bet he can make it happen well within your timeframe.

Ditto farrahlyn, specs like color and clarity are not what makes a stone sparkle. A well cut K/SI1 will sparkle more than a poorly cut
F/VVS1. You are after an Ideal/Excellent cut then color/clarity come next. Good value usually falls in the range of G/eye-clean SI1
or VS2 and will still be white in most people's eyes (unless very color sensitive). Non-color sensitive people will go down to "I" sometimes
J/K to get larger stones (understand you dont want to do this) but I think you should go down to G to open up more possibilities.

We have a tool that you can use to check the cut of round brilliants. Look for stones that score 2 or under. Lower number is not
better. After you find a stone that scores 2 or under you can then request and idealscope to check on light leakage. Here is the
tool. Post the image for feedback.

Since you dont have time for custom, I suggest you call ID Jewelry and talk to Yekutiel. Ask if they still carry Henry
Daussi settings (tell him what you are looking for). If he doesnt have a setting that will work for you then you can go through Since1910 (see above). They probably have access to more settings then what they have listed so tell them what you are looking for.

Phone:888-921-9372

Edit...I just noticed that they do have some Henry Daussis listed at ID jewelry.

Edit...also noticed that they have this Gabriel & co. I dont think you get a break on the price but I still think it's expensive
for a Gab &co. I would rather see you get a Henry Daussi.

Edit...here is a "sold" Henry Daussi setting just so you can get a better look at the quality. So much easier when you see "real" pictures.
