Hi,

Pretty much a newbie to diamonds.

1. My budget is around $10-15k for the stone.. Need a engagement ring. Thinking around 1.5 carat should be good.
2. Is this the right time to buy diamonds or are they overpriced due to xmas and valentines, if yes overpriced by how much and when is the best time to buy a diamond.
3. Looking for a Halo setting and have something very specific in mind that i would like to get custom made. Best place to get setting done considering location.

My criteria would be a good cut and good looking with the naked eye, be value for money too.

If i had to go whiteflash is there a huge difference if i buy a ACA diamond or a Ideal expert selection. Is it worth paying more for a ACA diamond and what color and clarity should I be looking at.

Thanks for the input.

Now is a good time to buy. There isn't a price hike, and there can actually be pricing breaks at Christmas and Valentines Day.

Expert Selection diamonds are great. You don't need an ACA and they have the same great trade in, upgrade, buy back polices.

Color and clarity are personal. But if you want to balance budget and value I would recommend G/H color and VS2/SI1 eyeclean.

Thanks a lot Gypsy about the suggestion.

Is it better to buy from Whiteflash or GOG. Is there a big difference between the premium and superior symmetry diamonds on GOG.

Thanks once agian.

Try both ;)) but make sure you're comparing 'apples to apples'. Good luck :appl: :wavey:

Thanks. I sure will be trying to compare "apple to apple' but then again if i had so much knowledge i would not be asking the experts for advice :).

Where is the best place to get a custom made setting done??

Best place for Custom....

Depends on what you want and what your budget is.

There are two main manufacturing methods: CAD and CAST and handforged that we recommend here. Each has its strengths and weaknesses. Depending on the design one may be better than the other.

So give us more details and we can tell you what method we recommend, who we recommend for it, and what ballpark it will cost.

Rocky thanks for the suggestions.

Gypsy I am looking at a halo effect ring with split shank. Any suggestions????

Thanks
