Need help selling a ring.

I bought a ring last year. Got married, it didn''t work out now we would like to sell the ring since we are no longer together. My questions is how should I go about selling it? Where is the best place to take it to get some good cash. I got the ring/diamond from whiteflash.com. It''s in perfect condition. She took really good care of it.

Just need some advice so that we don''t get ripped off.

Is the diamond one of WF's ACA or ES diamonds? If so, you may be able to work out a trade up/trade in policy with WF. I would get in touch with your WF SA.

Otherwise, there are the typical routes to take; ebay, craigslist, other diamond sites that we can't really point you to because of PS rules.

are you still within the one year buyback policy date that Whiteflash offers you? if so, I would say return it to them which they will buy it back at 70% less what you paid, It is a far better deal than what you will get out there from any diamond buyer,unless you sell privately which is at your own risk. From personal experience, many jewelers or diamond broker will look at your diamond and offer you what the rappaport says minus say 20-30%. When I contacted WF, it was a far better deal to go through them IF you are within the buyback period. Not many people care about setting, off the street the diamond/jeweler/broker only offer for the diamond. Sure you can sell the setting as well on your own to recoup some cost. Good luck. You could try ebay or craigslist but be very cautious, and uless you know these two channels by experienc selling high ticket item, I''d be very cautious

Craig''s List is an option, but from experience it''s a huge pain in the butt. TONS of people may respond with very low-ball offers, such as 10-20% of what you paid.

I just looked at your old thread and it looks like your diamond is an ACA princess and was bought last May. Get in touch with WF asap to find out about the buy back. You will not get more than 70% return on the diamond on the secondary market, and if you mess around trying you might miss the window with WF.

Another alternative if you wanted was to try consignment with Pearlman''s. I have seen some WF items for sale on there in the past: www.pearlmansjewelers.com

Just to clarify, the buyback is for 70% of what you paid, or 30% less. Not 70% less as D&T suggests

Do a search for jewelry classifeds on google and try some of the sites. I would suggest you put it up for sale and see what you get for it. If it doesn''t sell before your one year buy back period is over, then sell it back to Whiteflash. You should also see if the whiteflash policies are transferable. I would imagine that people who know ACA will go for 80% of what you paid.

This is a good point. If yo can find the right buyer you could get a good return.

It will cost about $30 give or take a few depending on how much you insure it for to mail it back. Use, Brown threaded postal tape - the kind that gets gummed up after water or spit seal (they usually have it there) no clear/duct/or scotch tape allowed. NO envelopes with padding is allowed (US only, International is ok) and just package it nice and tight back with no movement. I write the address directly onto the brown tape with a ball point pen (as not to smear) that's how I usually do it with all my shipping pieces.

Excellent...I mean it always stinks to lose 30% but it would stink even more to lose 50-70%!
