Hi all...I've been looking and looking and my head is spinning. Im looking at the 5500K range and was wondering about thoughts on this ring from James Allen...

Specifications for Item #: 1437844

Shape: Round
Carat weight: 0.94
Cut: Very Good
Color: H
Clarity: SI2
Certificate: GIA
Depth: 63.2%
Table: 57.0%
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Girdle: Slightly thick to thick
Culet: None

Im open to any advice. I live in a small town and there is Fred Meyer or one local Jeweler whom at the moment has zero diamonds to choose from...So online is the way to go for me....

Thanks....

Not sure why the H SI1 got an AGS0 for that proportions, does not look that great from the proportions or image, maybe somewhat better fire performance but not the best from AGS0.

H SI2 has thick girdle, hiding some weight, making it slightly smaller than better cut stone, high crown and shallow pavilion also make it slightly smaller and have darker appearance but probably slightly better fire performance. Ask for idealscope image.

Not enough info for the 3rd stone.

Is the budget just for the stone or total ring?

This looks promising. Ask if eye-clean and request an idealscope image for the stone if interested.

I'm not seeing any images for the 3rd stone, but if it is AGS0, it will at least be promising in terms of cut. But I'd need to see the AGS report and the images to be sure and see inclusions, etc.

I would eliminate the other 2. I like the H stone that Amy posted.

Thanks for the input...55 is total for everything. I'll call about the one you listed. So I will keep looking for more...should I scratch the ones on hold ? the third is suppose to have info real soon.

Thanks again.

Definitely scratch all but the third one. It has potential from the numbers listed.

thanks I like those ones also from whiteflash

Wait for 3rd info. The other 2 iffy, depends on what are their prices and if it is significant enough for you to offset the slight loss in performance for the slightly larger carat weight/spread for the same price. Safe side is to scratch the 1st 2 unless you really know what you prefer.

Also, post the 3rd's price, so that we have a gauge on the price paid for the H&A.

still waiting on the 3rd info the price is $4350

Took The top 2 off from James Allen..Looking at White Flash. I thought I was getting close but now looks like more to research... thanks for the tips to White Flash. They have some nice looking rings...Ill call them in the am and talk with them and hopefully get one coming tomorrow.

Is there much difference to the naked eye between .80 and 1.0 ? My original plan was to wait until summer but I want to ask her on or before valentines day..so my budget is a little more limited at the moment. Its more for me than anything I know she will appreciate anything I give her. I just want it to have the wow factor. ;))

Thanks again everyone.

WhiteFlash has beautiful diamonds and they'll be better than 95% of what you'll see on other people. Yes, a .80 is smaller than a 1 ct., but there is such a price jump at 1 ct. that it might really delay the purchase if you went to a carat. I think it is wonderful that you want to propose on Valentine's and I am sure she will be thrilled regardless of the size! The great thing about WF is that you can later trade the diamond in for a larger one if you want, with full credit for the purchase price of the original stone. Many people are too sentimental about their original stones to trade them in and just put them in a pendant instead, though, if they are ever able to get a larger diamond in the future. It's just good to have the option. Good luck and let us know what you decide!

Thanks DS...Im very excited about everything. Now if I can just find the right diamond I'll be all set.

The WF options look really nice but they are over 5K and you've not included the setting yet.

For one of the cheapest settings (which are also lovely and very classic) you are looking at around $500. For example:
Tiffany setting

BTW: When I was looking on JA he seems to offer a discount if you buy the setting and stone together around $300
Semi bezel

Cathedral setting with pave

These are all under $5000 just to show you want you can get, then maybe you want to stick with you budget or save a bit more

What are your feelings?

Good morning and thank you for the tips and the links. I must say that I am feeling a little overwhelmed by the amount of choices
I like it tho....I just am not sure how to pick one, they all seem very nice. I have a little wiggle room on my budget up to 55 total give or take ..The WF totals where running right up to about that...

I did have an option here in town that I was going to pass on but I should mention I guess....Its a 1.02 F Si1 EGL Documented ( Dont know about them ) EGL Ideal Plus. The jeweler is retiring next month but has been around for 30 plus yrs so I know of him. anyway 6K for that ring. A hair out of budget but he will work with me on it....I was able to look at the diamond through magnification and it looks very nice.

Decisions,decisions :)

I like the James Allen site and that they engrave in your band...Im going to call WF and talk with them.

Farmer-I love the combo you picked out! I'm sending that to my BF!!
