I'm trying to help my future brother-in-law buy an engagement ring for my sister. I want to help him so he does not buy from a mall store! LOL I found two settings that he liked and which my sister has confirmed that she likes when they went looking a few weeks ago. One has diamonds on the band and one does not. He is trying to stay around $3,000 or so for the entire ring. I found a diamond and wanted to know if it is a decent quality for the price. If this is not a good one, can you make suggestions. Thinking around .90 would be a good size to keep price reasonable. Thanks for your help!

Is there a video of the diamond?

Without a video, its hard to say (I did look on JA but can't find it).

But, here are few options that vary the 3Cs keeping budget at $2500. I'd pick your top three, put them on hold and request an ASET images.

#4) https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut/0.91-carat-e-color-si2-clarity-sku-3536075 {5.38*5.28, .91; this has a visible inclusion but the cut is great. The inclusion will be less visible when the stone is set, but likely not "eye clean". But, ask JA}

#5) https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut/0.88-carat-i-color-si1-clarity-sku-3668674 {5.20*5.15, nice faceting pattern and the inclusion is on the girdle, good eyeclean choice; very bright I color}

#6) https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut/0.80-carat-h-color-vvs2-clarity-sku-3700005 {5.17*5.11; nice faceting. VVS won't have any visible inclusions. H color very safe}

#7) https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut/0.81-carat-i-color-si1-clarity-sku-3600649 {5.11*5.08 mm. Beautiful faceting. Lovely color and clarity}:love:.

Thanks. There is a big part of the table that goes grey and can you see how a lot of the facets don't turn on and off? Not my favorite choice and it is small (5.12 mm) for its weight. Several of the ones I posted are bigger spread...that's what you'll see. The spread not the weight. Compare it to the ones I posted and see what your eyes tell you.

Hopefully, other PS members will chime in too!

I placed your #5 suggestion on hold but they do not have asset for that one. Would that be OK to purchase without that? It is a beautiful cut and the price is really good to fit in his budget. Thanks for your help

I like to know all my choice, so I would probably also put #6 and 7 on hold as see if they ASET for those. Then, make a decision. ON #5, ask if they will shoot an ASET (or IS) once they have the stone in their hands before setting. Then, it it is terrible, you can always switch it.
