Hi All,

I'm back and once again I need some advice on a diamond. This would be a 10 years anniversary gift so I want to upgrade/refresh her ring.
The current diamond I purchased is from WF with everyone help 10 years ago. I'm planning to trade up the current diamond (getting around $4,000 credit) from WF. The current one is ACA, ideal 0, G, VS1, O.8 cts.

I'm thinking of upgrading it to ACA with 0.9-1.0 cts My budget is around $3,000 out of the pocket for diamond since I need to allocate another $1,000 plus on a new setting as well.

I would love some suggestions. Is it worth spending another $3,000 going from 0.8 to 0.9-1.0 cts?

I would love to spend more but playing it safe with the shakey economy.

Let me know your thoughts.

Here is what I'm thinking so far.

Best,

The difference in size will be minimal. Is the minimal size difference worth extra $3000+? No. Will your friends/husband see the size difference? Most-likely, no. (unless the stones are compared unmounted side by side.) Is it worth going through the hassle of getting a new setting? - Likewise, no.
Are you willing to go down in color/clarity and get something like 1.1ct?

What does the head of her existing setting look like? Do you think it might be replaceable with a larger size head to accommodate a larger stone at
a more reasonable cost than replacing the whole setting?

Can you provide a link to the setting she has?

I think if you could get to a carat the size difference would be nice. Others might not notice it but she will.
Edit This is the lowest price 1+ carat stone staying with an H.

Here is a relative difference of a .8 (6mm) and the 1.06 I posted on a size 6 1/2 finger

That is my concern as well that the difference will be minimal. I don't know how she would feel if I trade in ACA for something bigger but not as "good".
Not an easy decision for me.

Here is the current ring. My thought was to get a new setting to make her feel like she is getting something new.

I wouldn't trade in for something that is .1ct bigger. It just won't be worth the cost of the new setting and diamond itself. I agree with others that I would wait until you can afford the jump to 1ct (if possible). Some of the premium select stones are great, but are certified by GIA vs AGS. I would email WF about the PS one suggested above

I think that unless you are going to get to above 1 carat, you will not really see a big difference.

Some of the options above are worth looking at- or, what about a pretty anniversary band?

Not worth the 0.1 difference. Maybe save a little more and get something that she will actually notice.

Thanks for the input everyone! I might have to get her something else for the anniversary. I have sometime still. Maybe, I might be able to save a bit more.

would you mind showing me where you found this app? i would like to play with finger size and carat size too. i searched all over the internet but couldn't find! thanks in advance

I really like this diamond - if you wire the money you get the 3% discount. Not sure how far your money would stretch but this goes over the one carat mark without sacrificing color. You can ask WF if the could make a new head for her ring to accommodate the diamond.

Here is the website for the diamond size comparison: https://www.diamdb.com/
