Hello, first time proposing. I am looking for a really pretty stone that is eye catching from good light performance. Size is not the most important requirement, but my girlfriend seems dead set on at least a .8 or very close. Going to get a solitaire setting. Budget for stone is $3,000, I want it to at least be eye clean.

Does anyone have some suggestions? I would be really grateful for some help or direction.

Is this a good stone?

But, we may be able to do better....

How about a 0.9ct H VVS2 https://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD09284792

It I see a little outside of the preferred range, but super cute small table and it should be a fiery stone.

Edit: Sorry! I was looking in different currency, this one is over budget :(

Super-ideal 0.875 J VS2 http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/diamonds/diamond-details/0.875-j-vs2-round-diamond-ags-104094817030#!prettyPhoto[gallery2]/0/
This would be a gorgeous stone!

Another ideal cut- slightly smaller than the above, I color and lower clarity, but it should be eye-clean https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3880145.htm

It is a pretty one, but I personally like the BG choices better, I think they provide a better variety for OP within his budget at this time. The blue may be my favorite, it gets him over 6mm, the medium flouro will be very beneficial for the color and it is well below his budget, so he can get a nice setting as well. This is one if my favorite solitaires: http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/engagement-rings/solitaire/tapered-classic-style-half-round-5540

All good choices nonetheless :)

You guys are awesome will take me a bit to go through these! I love that solitaire. She wants a thin band, so that is perfect! Thank you guys so much!

That stone is lovely! Just wondering if it might be worth looking at a 4 prong setting for a stone this size? Maybe less metal would show the stone off more?

Does she want a Solitaire? Or are you doing that to maximize your budget

Either solitaire or pave. She is looking for a petite band, but recently we are really leaning towards a solitaire for the simplicity and fact that is does allow more room budget wise for a stone. She is a teacher so she needs a low profile ring that can take a beating.

I like the BG options the best.

Ok I am making my final decision, I really appreciate all the help so far. I am going with a Brian Gavin Blue. I love the one SimoneDI linked. However, they have another one that is the same price and weight. Cut is within what I found to be super ideal on both. The other one I found is VVS1 vs VS1. Both differ very slightly in the cut.

Which one is the better buy?

Nice find! I would go with the 0.834 J VVS1! Same price, 2 grades improved clarity and a smaller table! Win-win! Also, both diamonds have the same outter diameter;) I am very excited for you! Please post pics once you have the ring!

Thank you for the prompt reply! Would you be concerned with the feather inclusion on the girdle of the VVS1? Its directly on the edge beneath the diamond. I'm going with the solitaire you suggested. I like the security of 6 prong.

I don't know if those reports are accurate, I do see a inclusion on the face of the diamond that is not in the grading. It's not a big deal, just not marked in the grade sheet and you can see it easily under magnification.

It's us a VVS1clarity grade, you should not be concerned with any of the inclusions =)2 it is an enviable clarity which in this case happens to cost the same! It is a great choice in my opinion ;)
