Hi guys and girls,

First, I just wanted to thank every body for contributing to this amazing community. I've learned a ton by being on here and I hope to contribute in the future.

I'm looking at the following diamonds and I was hoping to get your opinion on the best one or if there is something else I should be looking at.

Is there a particular reason you are looking at stones with VVS clarity? You could safely drop that down to VS and be fine.

Stone 1: HCA = 2.4 (worth buying if the price is right) - GIA (which is good), SB fluor (just know about it)
Stone 2: HCA - 6.0 (fair) - terrible cut, and isn't GIA/AGS certed - terrible. Do not even consider this one.

You have a very nice budget - but I think VVS clarity is overkill. You can safely drop to VS and some SI's and still have an eye-clean stone. And a GIA or AGS ideal cut stone will face up larger and whiter than a less well cut one, so even lower stones still look white face up (color is graded face down, an angle you will never see it at) - so consider H/I colors as well.

Look at these - all much better:

Thank you so much for all the replies, this is really helpful. I supposed I was just trying to get a diamond without inclusions but I'll look at VS and H color and see what I can find. I was really hoping to get something at 2 ct or above and from bluenile or jamesallen. I would really appreciate any feedback or diamonds on these sites that you think are worth going for.

I'm looking at this one now:

HCA: 0.7
any thoughts?

Also, I've looked into the fluorescene and most articles keep saying that while the price drops a bit with diamonds in my range, it doesn't really affect the day-to-day look of the diamond. Am I missing something?

Thank You Again.

Here is an example of a SI1 diamond that really does look to be eyeclean. It is at the top of your budget but the cut of this stone is top of the line. http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3114552.htm?source=pricescope#

For comparison here is a similar diamond from Blue Nile so as you can see pricing is not that different. http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-details/LD04284895?click_id=153817014

It appears that the link to the BN diamond doesn't work but it is a 2.01 G SI1 Blue Nile signature diamond. I'm sure it will pop up for you in their search.

Thank you so much, but unfortunately I think that might be a little much for me. I'd like to stick closer to 20k if possible. But thank you again for your help. It seems like I should focus more on the cut than anything else.

Yes, the cut really makes the stone beautiful. You can also call most of these vendors, tell them what you are looking for, and see what they recommend to you.
