Need help on finding comparables

Hello!

like many, I've officially set out to find an engagement ring for my girlfriend. I'm working with a budget around the CAD$3,000-$4,000 mark and need some insights into finding a comparable ring that I became smitten with. The culprit is a three-stone, princess cut Hearts on Fire engagement ring: http://www.kevinmain.com/store/images/P/p-17576-01.jpg

I learned that the price for this type of HOR ring is near $8,900 - far out of my price range. Now, without paying the price of a small car for a ring, would anyone be able to recommend similar rings worth looking at? I realize this is a broad question, but any insight is more insight than I currently have.

I think you can do it with a mounting allowance of about $1500 to $1800 and use G-SI1 diamonds with about a 1/2ct center and 1/5ct sides. Some vendor here can likely make a similar, not identical ring. Plan on using white gold and coming very close to the $4000 US figure.

Are you sure SHE wants a 3 stone ring? I tend to think of that as an anniversary ring (although, not necessarily). Personally, I would put my budget into getting a great solitaire and then upgrading in the future. But, that's why they have menus!!!!

I think that is a beautiful ring but those are rounds in the picture (not princesses?)

Note that the prongs in the image in the initial post are 1/2 bezels and not wire prings. That's wyhy I suggested having the mounting made. I could not find a similar ring set that way and it would not be a big deal to make such a ring.
