Hi everyone,

I need your help. I have a project. I have decided to get a new setting for my engagement ring. Right now my stone is slightly too small for the setting and it just looks "off." I had $2500 to spend on a wedding band but thought I could put that toward a wedding band AND a new setting. I was thinking a elegant (dainty) simple 18k white gold setting and a diamond band. I really like antique/vintage styles. Any help would be great! I am getting married in a few months and would like this project to be over with before the wedding. I am really excited to begin this search!

BTW my stone is 1.03ct.

Thank you!!!!

You may have already thought of this and rejected it, but is there any chance that you could reuse your current shank and have the setting modified or even a new head put on? That way, you could still get your dream band.

Alternately, although it''s a slightly different look from the sample you posted, Pearlman''s has a set listed that''s well within your budget in their previously owned section ....

Circe,
No I had not thought I reusing the setting and getting a new head put on it. I didn''t know you could even do things like that. How much would something like that cost?

How did you know that $2500 was the exact cost of my dream band? Your good!

I found this setting I liked

I guess I just want something that won''t become outdated, not sure how to accomplish that!!

Heheheh - talent!

That, and knowing that that''s how *I* set *my* budget: it coincided nicely with what I wanted anyway.

It''s hard to tell from your userpic what the build of your ring is - could you post a profile shot, maybe? If you have an integrated head/sidestones it could potentially be pricey, depending on the jeweler, but if you have a peg head, it''s not too bad at all - I know some PS''rs have had it done for very small sums. I don''t remember off the top of my head, but I can''t imagine it costing more than a couple of hundred bucks, even with gold prices rising ....

Alternately, that last setting that you found is reaaaaaaaaally pretty ... I say, go with what makes your heart sing. Don''t worry about fashion - I mean, I''m wearing a ring from the ''30s! Everything old is new again eventually, but in the meantime, *you* have to love it, right?

Circe,

Here is the link to my SMTR thread. https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-ring.86593/

You can read my saga of how I had to end up with a smaller diamond than I had originally had because my first one cheaped . . .

As you can see from the thread I post I was alway self-conscious about how it looked with the smalelr diamond, but I felt guilty for thinking badly of it . . .

I do really like that last setting I posted. I am glad you liked it too!

Oh, and I was thinking I could keep my original setting and eventually put a colored stone in it! I like my diamond and my setting but not as much together as apart.
