Is this a good deal?

The jeweler I am working with said this was a gorgeous stone and slam dunk for the price, that something like this is hard to come by. They had to make quick moves to get it because there were other buyers reaching out the dealer and that I’d need to make a quick decision. Going to see it in person within the next two days, but what are your initial thoughts?

Price: $13400

Very good polish made me a bit concerned, but everything else looks great. Jeweler said it also surprised them given how good it looks on the video.

I plan to pair it with two lab epaulets side stones similar to Olivia Culpo’s ring just as some additional information.

the VG polish with the surface graining might give me pause - especially since you are paying a Premium $ for the VVS grade...

most likely you could find lesser priced $ VS or eye clean Si1's without polish/graining issue.

The sales tactic of "MOVE FAST, THIS IS LIMITED!" is always a lie, and always shady nonsense. There's nothing limited or special about this stone in particular. Surface graining isn't great, especially when you're paying for a VVS stone. Id go with another jeweler.

I said this on your Reddit post but will reiterate here to bring it to people's attention: the original poster is planning to use labs for the side diamonds with their natural center stone because the epaulettes cost a lot more when natural ($4k vs $800). I don't know if that price is reasonable or not for the natural sides, but I would never suggest getting an E/VVS natural diamond center with lab diamond sides. I really think you should go a bit down in specs on the center diamond (F-G VS, which is still great color and clarity!) and have the ring be fully natural.

Tagging @tyty333 to weigh in on the oval

Yes would be a shame to mix natural with synthetics..
here's some natural sides for price $ compare....

I went to look at it today and it looked great. $13.2k was the actual price. Video below. Jeweler has a great reputation (does business with first responders across the country & has exclusive line with citizen watches so reputation means everything to him) and he even showed me the current wholesale price ranges of various diamond on an app depending specs and it looked like it was equivalent to a F VS2 in price. This raw spec one ranged from $12.2k - $18.8k where he said one with a bowtie or fluorescence would bring it lower range and normally this one would be close to $18k. He only marks up 10%. I’m vary skeptical when hearing sales tactics because different jeweler I went to wanted the $11.5k for a 1.7ct D SI1 medium blue fluorescence but luckily I had reddit tell me to run for the hills… that being said he seems with this jeweler it’s a stark difference.

Regarding VG polish he said one facet was slightly off but nothing you can see with naked eye and only if you knew what to look for under a loupe.

Let's see if we can get @Karl_K to comment on the surface graining and VG polish.
Didn't look at any images, just a fly by...
vg polish is not unexpected on any fancy,
Surface graining can range from total sucks on table/crown to not a problem small spot on pavilion.

Just a funny factoid often the facet having the graining and the facet having less than EX polish will often be the same or adjacent. The graining prevents it from physically polishing to EX. Other times it can be polished to EX even with the surface graining.

Mixing natural and mined in any combination is personal preference.
It's fine to say you would not do it, but there is nothing inherently wrong with it.

Just replied before you sent this, not sure if anything in what I sent affects your info. I have a video as well of it through a loop. See below as well.
