Need help! I have NO IDEA what these diamond specs mean!!!

I know I can find alll the following on a cert:
depth %
table%
crown and pavilion angles
girdle thickness in percentages
diameter measurements
star and lower girdle percentages

but question is: what do all these things MEAN and what should I look for?
