Hi guys. First time poster here, looking for a diamond around 1 carat from BGD as they do have the setting I really like and my budget is around 8k to 9k for the stone.

What do you guys think about this one from the BGD blue:

Or should I go for the Black BGD:

Or
https://www.briangavindiamonds.com/.../1.048-g-vs2-round-diamond-bkags-104097235013

Or should I go for little bit more to the H&A:

Please let me know your thoughts and Thank you all!!:geek2:

The 1.233 H VS2 blue gets my vote- it provides the best value and the fluorescence will help the color appear even whiter. I hope that you are the one who has it on reserve!

Agree with Simone - the 1.233 H VS2 blue would also get my vote!

Thank you for the opinion but one of my friend suggest me to go for G color and drop the carat to 1 as I am going for a halo setting. What do you think?

I'd go with either the Blue or the 1.260 H VS2. Going to 1.2 carats is a nice bump in size over 1 carat and the H will be nice and white, so no worries about it being in a halo. If your friend was referring to dropping to a carat due to size (in a halo it will appear larger), then I would defer to what your intended would like. For example, if she likes a bit of size, then go for the 1.2 carat stone. 1.2 carats in a halo will be a very tasteful and beautiful ring :rolleyes2:.

Thank you for your opinion. I think my friend actually worried about the color as the H might be not white enough and he also mentioned it wont be that much difference between 1 and 1.2 since it is gonna be a halo setting anyway.

Absolutely not is my opinion. H is very white, especially in a halo since the profile of the diamond will be mostly hidden. The average consumer cannot really tell the difference between a G and an H, so I am not sure why your friend is advising you to go for a G when you/the recepient most likely won’t be able to appreciate the difference. On the other hand, a 1.233ct vs 1ct is a very noticeable difference. Lastly, blue fluorescence helps the color greatly and that H will apprear very white if not whiter than the G in some conditions. My vote still stands and I hope you go for for the 1.233 H Blue!

P.S. my first ring was an H color in Art Deco halo type setting. I don’t have many pictures of it, but here is one, you can see how white the diamond was.

Thank you for you opinion again!;)2 I think what my friend was trying to say is all about the side stones might not matching the color and the fluorescence of the main stone. Ahhhhhh~~ What a hard decision haha:(2

The single cuts in my first e-ring were technically “whiter” than the center, you couldn’t tell the difference in real life. Here is another one for you which actually is an H blue from BGD in a halo with F/G meleè. Meleè always performs differently than a large full cut center stone regardless if the color is G or H, nonetheless it is perfectly fine to set an H colored center in a halo with F/G meleè! I personally find H color to be the sweet color spot that provides the colorless appearance at a better price and for that reason you can purchase a larger diamond which is what many consumers would prefer.

Here is a BGD blue H in F/G meleè halo. Please ignore your friend and go for the H, you won’t regret it and your fiancé-to-be will certainly appreciate the larger size.

I have a BGD H. Beautiful and white

I wouldn't worry about the main stone not matching the melee (small stones in the halo). A super ideal cut H will be nice and white and the fluorescence is medium blue so it'll be nice and subtle. You also won't see the fluoro unless in direct sunlight and it'll appear a very, very pale lavender color. Again very subtle. Is BG doing the halo setting? You can ask for G/H melee and it'll match beautifully. Also the difference between a G and an H isn't huge, so I wouldn't hesitate going larger in an H. You have to get what you're comfortable with, but I think the larger H is a great choice and a very nice size stone =)2.

Thank you for your suggestion!!! The stone is eye-clean but I've noticed there is actually a tiny black inclusion on the table of the stone in the zoomed photo, should I worry about it?:(2

Seems like everyone is going for the bigger size! However I've noticed there is actually a tiny black inclusion on the table of the stone in the zoomed photo, should I worry about it?:(2

I highly, highly doubt that you will be able to see that inclusion!! Do you see the photo of the diamond that looks small? That's the scale of what you'll see. If you get a loupe (I like a 30x loupe but many use a 10x loupe) you will be able to find it. But no, you should not worry about seeing it with your unaided eye or worry that it'll negatively affect the diamond's performance.

Does your intended have any strong preferences? A colorless diamond, a certain size?

Remember the zoomed in picture is 40x. On BG’s page it says the diamond faces up eye clean under normal viewing conditions. I would email or do a live chat on their site. They will be able to clarify for you.

I wouldn’t worry about a VS2. :)

No, it will be eye-clean. The video is zoomed in. Look at the “eye clean” video instead. The diamond is great and within budget!

Which stone did you pick? And, did your intended pick that specific setting?

I was also going to ask about that setting..
