hi,
So finally I've gathered courage to get into rocky stream :). This being my first diamond purchase and also not high on budget would like the experts here to help me in stretching my dollars. I'm looking for a diamond ring around a budget of $4000 including stone and setting. Looking for something which has more sparkle and has decent size. I'm trying to gain knowledge on 4Cs of diamond but not sure how to accommodate them in my limited budget. Any and all help is appreciated.

What I am looking for is a round diamond and below are my criteria and would greatly appreciate any and all help in finding a great diamond:

Shape: Round
Size: .7 to .85 carat
Cut: Near Ideal to Ideal
Color: I or higher
Clarity: SI1 or higher (must be eye clean)
Ideal budget including setting: approx. 3k

What I am looking for is a diamond with brilliant shine and would want to know if i can get it in this budget or i will need to spend more.

Welcome! :wavey:

Please clarify your budget - your first post noted $4K (stone & setting), and your second post indicated $3K (stone & setting).

Also, please advise what sort of setting you’re thinking about. Do you want a simple Tiffany-style solitaire, or something more elaborate?

My bad...$3000 is for stone and i wanted to keep apprx $1000 for setting.

Similar to the following setting: https://www.jamesallen.com/engageme...ite-pave-cathedral-engagement-ring-item-49519

for stone this is the one i liked: https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...color-vs2-clarity-true-hearts-cut-sku-3824024

Nice stone and setting! I'm curious if you think you may upgrade some time in the future. If so, I would consider options that may be more advantageous down the line for this purpose.

So, for about the same range of your budget, you can also look at Whiteflash and these stones, which are H&A:

As for the setting, I've always thought the Legato was a beautiful pave style:

Thanks a lot for the inputs. the setting looks beautiful.
Apologies for newbies question...but what exactly you mean by upgrade...upgrade as in getting better diamond for the same setting again or exchanging the whole ring for a better one?

I do love the WF options but I personally like to maximize size so I'd want to hit .8 carats:
https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3964545.htm

She means upgrade the diamond in the future to get a larger one (and/or higher color and/or clarity). Would that be an option? If so, WF gives you back the full 100% value of the diamond to put towards anything more expensive with no minimums. James Allen, for example, requires you to spend double what you initially spent. So if you're spending $3k now, at WF all you are required to spend is at least $3001 but you'd be required to spend at least $6k.

If upgrading is not an option, I also really like these stones:

Thanks a lot for clarification. I went through the WF upgrade policy and it seems pretty transparent. However i am hoping on adding more diamonds if i get past first time buy nerves :) so dont want to restrict myself with WF.

I liked the JA diamonds you shared. would you suggest going for lesser size and better color/clarity? Does the difference between color G/H/I casts much impact on the look of diamond if the cut is excellent?

Cut is the most important part for diamond beauty - the rest, color/clarity/size is all preference and could be adjusted according to your budget.

These are all GORGEOUS stones in my opinion :love::

https://www.bluenile.com/diamond-de...AMONDS&track=viewDiamondDetails&action=newTab {.81 H VS2, 5.96 mm, These hit the 0.8 carat size, but the two posted by @ac117 in #7 above are slightly larger in spread.}

https://www.bluenile.com/diamond-de...AMONDS&track=viewDiamondDetails&action=newTab {.81 F SI1, 6.01 mm, looks eyeclean and keeps the color high at F; similar size in spread at the two from ac117}

https://www.bluenile.com/diamond-de...AMONDS&track=viewDiamondDetails&action=newTab {.8 I VS1, 5.97 mm, this is a 60/60 style diamond, so it will tend to have more white light return than fire. But, its a nice balanced stone}

https://www.bluenile.com/diamond-de...AMONDS&track=viewDiamondDetails&action=newTab {.81 I VS1, 5.99mm, another 60/60 that looks pretty nice. Nice clarity}

Settings similar to JA

Thanks a lot everyone for the pointers...quite overwhelming for me though, not sure which one to decide but i am definitely leaning towards bigger size.

I came across following piece in my search and would appreciate if some one can provide their thought on it: https://idjewelry.com/round-dmvmg-2167.html

That's a sample image but it could be a very pretty stone from the numbers. You'll need to call or email them or request images through their website.

Tell them that price Sent you. They will know what kind of cut parameters you need and might have additional options. They will give you idealscope images. You can post them on here for the gurus to vet.

All super ideals, and within your budget. All are eye clean and hearts & arrows so they will be the cream of the crop. If interested in any of these have WF hold them for you while you decide. Also, ask them to compare side by side for the most sparkle, to verify color and also confirm eye clean.
