I have been drooling over Harry Winston's "the one" cushion cut halo pave ring. I absolutely love it, yet can absolutely not afford it. I have seen other people's custom rings on this site that I love but just need help working out all the details and finding someone who could help me recreate this ring on my budget. I admit I don't have a large budget, but I am hoping that I can find my dream e-ring with it.

What I want:
cushion cut or antique cushion cut? - I don't know the difference.
I definitely want a super skinny band with diamonds set in it.
I also want a diamond on the larger side with the halo around it.
I will also need a wedding band(super skinny and set with diamonds) that matches and fits with the e-ring.

My budget is roughly $10000 to about $15000 and that would be pushing it.

PLEASE HELP ME! I know I have tons of research and learning to do about all this but I am very picky and can see what I want I just don't know all the technical terms to be able to tell a jeweler.

OK...how large of a diamond do you want? your budget is not small but the cost of a well-made pave setting like that is very high.

this video explains the different types of cushions

After watching that video I like the modern structure better. And as for size I was hoping to get anywhere from 1 carat to 2 carats but I think I'd be happy with somewhere around 1.5 carats.

ok you might have to go below 1.5 carats but I think you can definitely get your dream ring within your budget.

vendors who commonly make that style are engagement rings direct, jewels by erica grace, steven kirsch, victor canera, leon mege. I would look them up on PS and get quotes for them for the ring you want. I think the setting is around 3-4k depending on who makes it so that would leave you around 6k for the diamond...here is an example of a diamond that you could get http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-VS2-Premium-Cut-Cushion-Diamond-1382858.asp

Your 2 ring settings will probably cost at least $7000+ if you go custom, so that will leave you with about $7000 or so for the stone. So you'll be looking at probably 1 to 1.25 cts. depending on the color and clarity you want.

My advice is to focus on the diamond first and then deal with getting setting estimates. You want to be able to give them the dimensions of the stone to get an accurate quote. I just got a quote from Victor for a pave solitaire ring without a halo and the quote was over $4k. So just realize that well made custom settings will be high, yet you'll still do better than paying for a brand name like HW.

I'd recommend looking at Good Old Gold's August Vintage cushions. That is what I would personally choose for a diamond halo ring.

I think a custom halo setting will come in quite a bit higher than 3-4k hand made from Victor and Steven. My setting from Victor doesn't have a halo, it's a single row micro pave band w/ melee on the basket and it's over 6k, Steven's quote coming in at just $500 less.
Definitely worth asking though...

I agree with maplefemme. I also got quotes from SK, VC and LM when shopping for a halo setting and it was about ~$5500. So with the wedding band you're probably looking at a bit under 7K. That could still leave 7-8K for the center stone, which can get you very nice/sizable stone for your dream ring. I'd contact GOG, ERD, and Perry Chen at LM to see what stones they have in their inventory.

I just saw that you said you prefer a modern cushion. Sorry for posting the chunky cut kind!
