I had my half carat princess stones set into white gold tension baskets back in 2002. Well, they infect the heck out of my ears, so I''ve been wearing the plastic sheaths from Claire''s over them & its a pain.
I think I need to set them in platinum baskets, but everyone keeps quoting me ridiculous prices (400 and up). I thought of locating the findings myself and having them re-set.
I tried having them plated in rhodium & that didn''t help at all. Within a half hour my ears were icky. I guess platinum is the way to go.
Any thoughts on whether or not the alloy in the platinum will bother me?
Hey, I wonder if Palladium would be a cheaper, yet also hypoallergenic alternative?
