Is 1500 for stone + pendant setting, or stone alone? And does "red" to you mean stoplight red (e.g. "pure red), or is some secondary purple/pink ok? I know that might seem like an odd question, but the 'true red' stones carry a huge premium in price, so if you don't mind a secondary pink/purple it might save a lot!

1500 would be for the stone alone - and a hint of pink would be ok

The OdysseyGem stones looks orangey-red in the video and photos; I don't see any pink at all.

I've seen this GemFix Spinel in person and it is lovely - the cut is great and the color is a reddish-raspberry, more similar I think to your inspiration pendant than the OdysseyGem gem (and though smaller in diameter, less than half the cost of the OdysseyGem stone). http://gemfix.com/gems/spinel-344-round-portuguese-style-1-30cts

Looks orange red so may get brown in some lighting.

In addition to reaching out to Prima, I suggest you contact Gemcal and Roger Dery at Spectral Gems. Gemcal are spinel specialists and I see they have a red round but it is part of a set. Worth an email. Roger Dery's red spinel round is listed as sold but he often has inventory that isn't listed

This piece is amazing. I purchased it last week and had to bring it back because of a visible inclusion I can see with my eye.. Otherwise this was a keeper..

I just spoke w Roger about this exact thing since I was also interested in a red spinel/garnet. He said he doesn't have anything else like that red round, but is going to buy rough in August in Tanzania, so If you are interested you can email him what you're looking for and he can be on the lookout for rough that fits your requirements. He's super nice and responsive so I'd reach out to him if your not on a tight timeline. :wavey:

Sorry it did not work out for you. Since the seller listed it as eye clean can you tell us what the inclusion looked like? I can't tell from her photos and just as a learning experience would like to know. Thanks!

It is a white spot ( i'm not sure if its bubble, feather, or cloud) but it is visible. I took a picture of the pendant before I sent it back. I'm not sure if you can see from the photo but it is off left center, there is a "white" spot.

Can you see it from 12 inches away? If you cannot, then it is considered eye clean.

I can see a white spot of inclusion from a distance away ( not sure if it's 12in). The necklace is gorgeous and the color of the stone is beautiful. However, spending a rather large amount of $, I wanted it to be somewhat perfect.

I understand you perfectly. The price of top red spinels, however, has increased significantly. One used to be able to purchase a 1 ct red spinel for $1K/ct but not any longer. The round shape is also making this search more challenging. As evidenced by the link below, I don't think you'll be able to an intense red 6.5 mm spinel for $1500 today.

This dusky pink is already priced at $1500.

It looks to be well priced and well cut, but potentially darker than you might like (just my guess) and since you are eagle-eyed, the inclusions off to the side might bother you.

Chrono is definitely correct on pricing and the difficulty of finding a well cut, excellent color round. Anything over 4 mm is difficult to find in a round cut with open red color. Going for round is what makes it like the cherry on top for difficulty. I feel your pain bc I bought a 7 mm round mahenge a little over a year ago after a LONG search, from one of the vendors already mentioned here, and I paid a significant price for it. (And it's not top color, it's strongly reddish pink with a hint of orange, but it's a mahenge and it's extremely well cut. I had to settle a bit on my color preference bc everything else about it was perfect). I would suggest looking for Burmese as well as mahenge, but at this point a really nice Burmese red may be just as pricey and just as hard to find. All of the vendors I would recommend you look to have been mentioned in here already. Good luck, and be prepared to search for a bit until you find what you want!! I'm sure there is a stone out there that you'll like, but it may take longer than you think to find it.

You can also ask JuliaB if she has other mahenges similar to the one you liked. She used to have a nice little stockpile of them, loose and unset, but she prefers not to sell loose gems. If you pick one out of her stock, she will probably want to set it for you. Might be worth looking into if you liked everything else about the piece you saw!

I know you want round and 6+mm in size, but this is the best I could do to help in your search and wanted to show you for your consideration.

Gorgeous colour but then I noticed this (see picture below). I would follow up to find out how far reaching the inclusions are. I have purchased a red spinel with such scary inclusions on the pavilion, but they cannot be seen from the top. It was heavily discounted because of these inclusions. I had no issues with it as a ring stone either. This is more of an FYI for the OP, since she seems very particular about inclusions.
