I need help finding a diamond for my engagement ring. I do not know the best place to buy it. I found a setting that she really like; however, I still need a stone. Probably 0.7-1.0 carat, round brilliance, and SI1 and above. Thanks!
You will likely get the best deal online. A few good vendors (that have pictures of the actual diamonds online): james allen, brian gavin diamonds, whiteflash, good old gold. If you have a lot of time to spend looking for a deal, then james allen might be your best bet. If you do not have a lot of time, and are not a diamond expert, I'd recommend a whiteflash "a cut above" or "expert selection" or brian gavin "signature" or "blue."
There is a significant diameter difference between a 0.75 and a 1ct round (5.8 - 6.5mm). Can you tell us about the setting? Will it be custom made to fit the stone? Or is it pre-existing and you need to fit a specific diameter stone into it?
Thank you very much, tyty333. I might consider the third one from your first post. I know it was probably hard to find a diamond that fits my tight budget and I really appreciate your help. Another question, if I buy the setting and diamond at separate places, would it be a hassle for me to combine the two? Do I go to a local jewelry store or mail them in?
