Almost done with the diamond purchase process! Just curious, is the yellow in this image just the photo, or is the actual diamond? Also, next steps: any recommendations or tips or advice (LOL) on insurance and appraisals?

It is a reflection Pannini, not the diamond itself. There could be some yellow in the surroundings, shirt or sweater, wall etc - no worries! GORGEOUS rock!!!!!!!!!

Bootiful!! (ditto, just reflections)

If you do a search on here for insurance, you''ll get scads of threads with info. As for appraisers, here''s a link that may help you find one in your area.

Thanks so much everyone. This is very exciting. I found Carole in the San Francisco Bay Area through a search on PS :http://www.finejewelryappraiser.com/index.php

So do I just take the diamond (once I get it) to her, get it appraised, then find insurance for the diamond, then get it set (at Leon Mege)? This will insure the diamond while being set, correct? Then do I have to start over the process: appraisal for ring, insurance?

Feels tedious, but I guess it''s worth it?

Btw, we purhased the BG diamond last night! We are giggling all the time about it, eager to see it IRL!

Thanks everyone. I am so grateful for PS. Will most likely be posting gazillion new topics about the setting process. I am deciding btwn a couple designers right now.

Congrats, so you managed to persuade your bf to your pov? :P

Insurance and appraisal is basically how you list it. But if you go back to the same appraiser, it will simplify the process and cheaper as the appraiser is basically verifying that the stone is the same, no damage occurs during the setting process and to valuate the cost of the setting.

Good luck. :)

Getting the stone insured loose is harder. I had a good thread bookmarked on insuring loose stones, but I can''t find it now. Try doing a search on that here and see what you get. There''s only a couple places as I remember that do that. You might ask the appraiser also. Then as stone said, see if you can go back to her at a discount to verify and re-appraise.

Your ring is going to be gorgeous!
