Need help finding a 5 carat pear yellow diamond for pendant

Whoops :) That was a typo - I knew what I meant to say, muscle memory sometimes takes over.

Since you like white gold, you could consider yellow gold prongs for your white gold halo pendant. The yellow prongs will blend well with the yellow stone and not take away from it.

Your ring is real stunner, btw :)

Hi Acebruin. Yes they did reply to me, but I was asking for a video of it in daylight inside and outside in direct sunlight. The guy in charge of the website said he was out of office yesterday and would do it as soon as he gets back. We'll see :D

Thank you so much for your advice! I've found a setting design that I LOVE on Instagram. I'm thinking getting the same thing without the colorless pear diamond since it might break my budget :D. I like the fact that the chain has small round diamonds all around too. I know it would cost more than just a simple gold chain but I love it. Oh my, what am I getting myself into..

Of course the simple design is unobjectionsble; without having the pear(s) haloe-d, it would look almost casual !

They sent me picture of the diamond in different lightings. I have to say it looks gorgeous for my untrained eyes. However, considering the measurement is smaller - almost 1mm less in length, their price is not that appealing anymore. The guy emailed me this morning - less than 24 hours after sending the video, and kinda rushed me into buying (see the screenshot of his email below). While I understand they want me to communicate, his "tone" turns me off a little since I never asked him to put the stone on hold for me.
Compared to James Allen, whom I specifically asked to hold a stone for me, they never rushed me or gave me the impression of "hey if you don't make up your mind quick, we have a whole line of customers waiting to grab it" :naughty:. I don't know, it just leaves a little bad taste in my mouth.

I would put money on it still being there in a couple of weeks...

Just a note - vendors have no way to privately communicate with PS members using this forum. There's no private message system. Members are free to contact any vendor they wish using email/ telephone.
 
I'd be wary of the JA with SBF diamond based on what David shared about it possibly affecting the color. Is there a rush to buy the stone? If not, I'd say breathe a bit and wait until the diamond that makes your heart sing comes along and then put out the money for it.

It looks like the JA 'strong blue' has a brother listed - WWW - endowed with precisely the right set of characteristics that would give the JA 'strong blue' the benefit of the doubt.

I hate to be a wet blanket, but I don't like the shape of that pear; the shoulders are wide and the top is not nicely rounded. I share your love of yellow diamonds, but there has to be one out there with a more pleasing shape.
 
You're right, it's sub-par. But hey, it was fun to look for one. Next time I will examine it more.
 
I would say to contact vendors/designers and ask if they can get a nicely shaped FY pear > 4cts. Leon found my ring's FY cushion but I was looking in the 3ct+ range and wanted a ring. I love how it turned out. Good luck!
