I just ordered from Whiteflash

"Diamonds for an Eternity" 1/2 Diamond Wedding Ring
Specs:Platinum "Diamonds for an Eternity" 1/2 Diamond Wedding Ring
14 A CUT ABOVE® Hearts and Arrows Diamond Melee (0.50ctw; F/G VS).
The width tapers from 2.3mm at the top down to 2.1mm at the bottom.

But then i saw this 5 stone ring

0.75ctw 14k White Gold Five Stone "Shared-Prong" Diamond Wedding Ring
Set with 5 brilliant A CUT ABOVE® Hearts and Arrows Diamond Melee (F/G VS)

They are both the same price and same quality diamonds. The first one is platinum but the second one im getting more diamond but white gold. Should i cancel the order and get the 2nd one instead?

Which one will provide better coverage and more sparkle and overall better buy?

I am a noob so all advice is appreciated

Thank you

Are you wearing it alone or with an e-ring? With an ering I'd get the smaller stones in a second.

Are you wearing it as a wedding band? If so, what metal will the ring be worn up against. I would go for the same medal to avoid any wearing issues.

As for the impact, the eternity- *I think* will have that smaller pave sparkle while the five stone will be bigger stones. Have you tired on similar rings in person to see which you like better- and what would look better with your ERing? I would true to try on an eternity and a similar 5 stone in person...

It actually will serve as the e-ring until i can afford a large diamond (she doesnt like small solitaires)

if its a temp e-ring go for the one with bigger diamonds no doubt.

what's your budget though? and what does she define as a small solitiare? maybe we can help you find something.

i spent $1500 on it so that would roughly be my budget. What she considers not small is a 4ct royal asscher. I dont know what the compromise would be

oh  yeah ok i can't help you there! but in the mean time this will still be beautiful and super sparkly, and i'm sure she'll know you mean well by proposing first to show her you want to spend your lives together ::)

I just spoke to whiteflash and apparently I got a really good deal because of a computer glitch but they are willing to do the swap for me as long as I switch from CC to wire transfer so currently here are the two situations.

A) .50ctw 14 stones $1403 w/ platinum setting
B) .75ctw 5 stones $1364 w/ white gold setting
C) .75ctw 5 stones $1585 w/ platinum setting

They want my final decision soon and this will be serving as a temp e-ring

if you don't mind me asking what size does she wear since I am selling the eternity band you just ordered but in 18k wg =)

Shes a 5.5

Minmin, I was just going to post your ring for him!

This is a tough one. The five stone is a fine stand-alone band, but I wouldn't like it worn with an engagement ring. My tendency would be to recommend a 1 ct. five stone band if you could swing it. The band minmin has for sale could possibly later be worn as a wedding band if it isn't too high to sit next to the e-ring.

What is your budget?

well I didn't see this part. Looks like you are getting a great deal. Do you know what setting you want to buy for the e-ring in the future? It will be best to match both metal.
It is a hard decision to make. The 5 stone one is great and have more diamonds but also the 14 stone one can probably match up better as a wedding band. (I would wear the 5 stone one as a RHR)

I think I am going to call and hope for a computer glitch! Is this the 5 stone shared prong wedding ring? You should ask the price of the 1 ct. just for the heck of it. I have a 1 ct. 5 stone band and I wear a 5.5 and it is significant enough to serve as an e-ring.

Hi, MissC! :wavey: (note that I am trying to get him to go for the 1 ct. 5 stone! :naughty: )

You know, I am kind of in a similar situation, too. Instead of spending a lot of money right now on a larger diamond, my prederence is either to get two thin eternity bands to wear together or a larger 5-stone. I'll be very interested to see what you and your girl decide, as I can't decide myself what I'd like better!

Have you guys gone to try on rings similar to those that you will be purchasing. You and she both may be able to decide more easily after having seen them on her hand.

ya we went into costco and sams club just to try on styles and she likes the thinner ones partly due to the fact it will be easier to pair with an e-ring down the road. so i will prob go with the half eternity with a platinum setting.
