Hi,

I think i have narrowed down my choice of settings to two vatches. I am going to purchase ~ 0.72ct, G, Si1 (eye clean), princess cut. Wondering which of these settings folks like best.

#1

#2

They are essentially the same except #1 is tapered.

thx!

Brian

I''m sorry but I can''t see the pictures, just a big X. If you have the manufacturer''s ring # or design name, I could help you post the setting picture here.

welcome brian!

you''ll have to save each of the pictures to your computer and then attach the files individually in separate posts for them to show up.

here is ring #1

My choice is ring #1. I like the graceful taper. Will a wedding band be able to sit flush with that ring? Does it even matter?

Hi,

Thanks for your opinion! Here is the matching band, let me know if you like it.

I''m not fond of a bumpy/wavy wedding band if it will be worn alone; I think it looks kind of wierd. I know that sometimes, due to work or other circumstances, I wear just the band alone.

I vote for #1! I like slight tapering...it gives a more delicate look and it draws your eye to the center stone, allowing the stone to stand out more.

I also prefer a tapered look.

thx everyone, keep them coming. does anyone else have an opinion on the curved wedding band (looks, functionality, etc.)?

I like #1 too. Enhances the diamond more and looks more feminine.

I also do not like a curved w-band because it doesn't look right to me when worn by itself. I like the versatility of being about to wear my band alone when I want. Really, I would let her help to choose the w-band later on. Many women like to have some input on that. But I would consider if a band would sit flush before you choose an e-ring setting.

yes the wedding band is curved so it would be flush but i see your point on wearing it alone. i will focus on only the e-ring for now (until she says yes lol)

I prefer setting #1. I took a look at Exceldiamonds.com to see some additional photos of the settings, and near as I can tell, I don''t think a wedding band will sit flush with either one. Tough circumstance...I like the setting, but agree with others that the slightly warped band isn''t terribly attractive on its own.

i definately like #1 as well. personally i would prefer a regular band with a gap than that type of band, but that is personal preference. only your gf can decide for herself what type of band looks best to her eyes with the ring you present to her. though i recently saw a tapered ering with a regular diamond wband, that didn''t sit perfectly flush, and it was gorgeous.

Hmmmm...well, there''s always the solution of buying 2 wedding bands...a curved one to wear with the ring, and a straight one to wear alone. And who could turn down more diamonds?

I like #1, too...and I am also not fond of the curved band. Maybe look for a similar setting wherer a straight band could fit up flush against it...just an option.

Thanks to everyone who responded, I have decided to wait on the wedding band based on this advice. But now Scott Kay inserts his beautiful work as well. Consider this ring #3.

Your latest choice is very beautiful and unique. Any side views? I think I actually prefer this newest choice.

I know someone who has that setting. It''s too masculine IMO. I like the first one best still.

Are you saying I have masculine tastes?

i still like #1 - the profile with the x-prong (is that what it''s called?) is just so fluid and pretty. and i love the taper. something about scott kay''s heads, they seem to flare out and i don''t care for the look, it seems unbalanced to me.

check out jeff cooper''s rings. he does a lot for princess, and they are similar to the scott kay if you really like that one. i like the concept and perfect lines of the jeff coopers, but they are too thick and masculine for my tastes as well.

That was the first thing I thought of when I saw this setting. The band looks like a man''s ring. I also am not incredibly fond of the head/band junction.

I still vote for #1! #3 does look a bit masculine... it''s not delicate or fluid like the Vatche setting.

Another vote for setting #1.

Nope. Just saying that in person that ring looks very masculine.

I prefer #1 and would definitely go with a straight wedding band.

OK, I''ll be the lone dissenter. I prefer #2. I''m not a fan of the tapering into the diamond look for me. But I love Vatche rings with the x-prong type head, I''ve tried on both versions of these and really, either would be lovely. They felt very comfortable on my hand. Have you seen the new Vatche swan ring? I''m on my lunch hour and don''t have time to find it but they are making it with different sides (diamonds, pave) and I like the look of that even better? But haven''t seen it in person, its new. Wink has a couple of videos so you can see it in action!

I like #1...

vote for #1. prefer the tapered sides!

and a no for the matching band. I don''t like it flat like that either. i have a vatche royal crown pave and although i belive it sits a little higher than this one, a thin pave band does sit flush wiht my ering. so try out some thin channel sets (they have those right) it might work out!
