Trying to decide between 2 diamonds for an engagement ring. They are both relatively the same size, but one is a single grade lower in both color and clarity. I don't think in person and on hand there would be much noticeable difference due to difference in color and clarity, correct?

Does one stand out over another in terms of light performance?

Well, I can’t view link 2 and don’t know about a price difference between the two. However, based on what I can see - and they have similar stats - I would choose the G over the H unless the cost difference is substantial.

The cost difference is $500 USD for the higher clarity and color. I'm just wondering with the 1 grade difference would be noticeable once set on a platinum ring and worn on hand? I'm guessing the clarity wouldn't be because the VS2 is eye clean. but not sure of the color.

For me, I'd get the H and save the $500.

$500 for one color grade higher and one clarity grade higher? I personally would do that but I don’t know your circumstances and budget. Not a must do thing by any stretch but it is just a mind clean thing for me. Visually when set I doubt you would see much of a difference, if any at all. If it doesn’t really matter to you, save the money and go for the H. Both will be beautiful!

Thanks for the input. Price is not too much of a concern. By that I mean with custom setting and all the difference will only be about 5% of the total cost of everything.

I vote the G!

I personally like the G, VS1 combo but I don’t mean to visit my preferences upon you or anyone else - lol!

Your question was actually would there be a noticeable difference between the two once set and the honest answer is probably not. I don’t know if either of you would consider this your forever diamond or if she might want to upgrade in the future. If you think it might be upgraded down the road, save the money and get the H. If you really think it will be her forever diamond, then I might go with the G.

Go for the G...I can see slightly less color in the face-down comparison shot.

I would also do the G!

Both will be stunning….I’d pick the G. I just love a VS1! The price difference is so small when considering the cost per wear. I’m great a justifying…!!

Thanks all, nice hearing which one you would choose.

Good luck and please come back and let us see the finished ring!

I hope you got the G.
