Need help choosing round diamond for ER

Hi everyone,

I know there are a million posts on this topic so I will keep this one brief.

Here are the requirements:

-$25k budget
-2.0ct minimum but would like to go bigger
-D-H color
-VS1-SI1 clarity

Here’s what I’ve chosen out

I really like that last diamond mainly because of the size. I’m just not sure if the ES will be comparable to the ACA in terms of light performance. Also, I’m not sure if the diamond is considered a “good” SI1.

It would be greatly appreciated if someone could shed some light on these diamonds or link some comparable ones.

The ACAs are among the top performers for light performance and have great upgrade policies, so can always be considered a good purchase on that basis.

I can't remember if the ES stones are in-house or virtual, but check the upgrade policies that apply to them.


If you wanted to look at other options, perhaps less well-cut but still within PS-recommended specs, we can stretch the budget to $26k (because some places offer wire discount that might drop it back down to around $25k) and find that you've got 14 AGS000 stones with Excellent HCA scores in the search engine right now:

The F VS1 2.26ct appeals to my tastes as a good balance of the 4Cs - colourless, should definitely be eye-clean, and a nice size bump over the 2ct mark:

WF has both ES and PS stones in-house. They are both eligible for upgrade, like ACA.

You have certainly chosen some gorgeous stones from Whiteflash! The first two are both great, and the last one is quite a size jump of clarity is not important to the recipient. Some people value greater size and some value higher color or clarity. The twining wisps are said to be eye clean in real life viewing, although we can see them in high magnification. If choosing between the first two stones, I would ask them to put them side by side and send pictures. I'd want to know if one is a higher H color than the other, and the higher color would get my vote as both stones are very nice in all other respects.
