Hi there

I have narrowed down to the following two 1.0-ish G VS1 diamonds. I really need help choosing the better one.

Diamond A: 1.03 ct G Color VS 1 Clarity

James Allen gemmologist:

"You'll be happy to hear that both of these diamonds have excellent fire, brilliance, and scintillation! They face completely eye clean and have a beautiful white "G" color. Both of them are fantastic options that will look gorgeous in person. When being carefully inspected side by side, the only true difference between the diamonds is that diamond 1460519 [Diamond A] faces slightly larger with slightly thinner faceting and a slightly smaller table. The gemologist's trained eye saw that its light performance is slightly stronger but feels that it's unlikely that the average eye will even see this."

Please let me know what you think!

Thanks so much in advance!

I don't think you can go wrong- I might go with JAs suggestion.

Ditto just different flavors of well cut stones. I don't think one is necessarily better than the other.

what did you decide?

I still can't decide!

Would it matter if there is a $400 difference? Diamond A is slightly more expensive.

Diamond A is an ideal cut....faces up slightly larger and has a slightly better appearance according to the gemologist
Diamond B is Very Good cut...faces up smaller, but is 400 dollars less expensive.

IMO, I'd go with the Ideal cut unless saving 400 dollars is a priority.

They do both look like very good stones, I would expect the sentiment here though would be for #1

-Bigger Spread
-Smaller Table
-Thick Girdle on 2nd Stone.

In the big picture 400 is nothing when considering the cost of the entire ring.

I'd go fit diamond A even if it was 800 more :)

Thanks for the input everybody!

On a related note, there's a black maple leaf inscription on Diamond A. Does that mean its a Canadian sourced diamond?
