A WF ACA will definitely outperform almost all gia XXX. So I would 100% go with the wf option

Thank you! Do you mind explaining why? I've read somewhere that GIA grading is more accurate than AGS? How true is this?

The gia stone doesn’t have complementary angles and shows clear leakage under the table (you can see that the stone is very dark under the table). It would be an absolute no for me.

The WF stone is a beauty with very balanced specs, I really like it. WF also has a very generous upgrade policy should you even chose to upgrade the stone in the future.

AGS is the stricter lab in terms of cut as they are actually able to grade the stones’ performance with the ASET technology. GIAXXX encompasses a variety of cuts - some might compare to AGS stones, but the JA you are looking at is inferior.

Generally, we recommend sticking to the below proportions which are likely to result in a well-performing stone:

Table: 53-58

Depth: 60-62.4

Crown angle: 34-35.0 (up to 35.5 crown angle can sometimes work with a 40.6 pav angle)

Pavilion angle: 40.6-40.9 (sometimes 41.0 if the crown angle is close to 34)

@SimoneDi summed it up nicely. GIA XXX is a huge range, from "no" to "excellent", whereas AGS 0 is "excellent". AGS is more accurate and stricter on cut. In terms of color, some people think gia is stricter, but I think they are equivalent. WF ACA is what we call a "super ideal", which means branded in-house by a known vendor and guaranteed to be outstanding. Others are CBI, and Brian Gavin signature. So ACA is among the best of the best. And that JA stone is "ok". So it's just not even close for me.

Thank you so much, @lovedogs and @SimoneDi ! I guess it's not such a hard decision after all  CBI diamonds are not available online?

They are! High perforamnce diamonds sells CBI, and they have a list of Jewelers in the US that carry them as well.

But looks like HPD doesn't have much in your size/budget unless you're willing to drop in color, up costs, or drop in size. So I would stick with the ACA

Agreed, the ACA is a lovely choice at just under 1ct.
