I too think it is a little overpriced, but it is an "old stone" (estimated to have been cut somewhere 1880-1900)...I'm not entirely sure how much that factors into the price. I think another factor is probably the fact that it was sourced by the designer, so perhaps a little upcharge for that?

I would love to look for my own stone, but he no longer takes customer stones, so I'm sort of out of luck with regard to that. I could turn down this stone and ask to continue the search for a different stone, but if the quality is good with consideration of age/sourcing fees, I might stick to it...

Also, should I ask to see the EGL certification?
