folks here want a photo, preferably an action video, to make a better comment

It seemed like my post would not go up if I included a link, photo, or video. Probably because I'm new they want it to go through a moderator?

Sorry, not well cut.

@tyty333 would you mind looking at another diamond? This one's on blue nile. Stock number is 22390956

Can you tell us what specs you're looking for and budget @916leakers ? We might be able
to find you something better. Do you have to stick with Bluenile?

Have you tried using the Pricescope Search engine at the top of the page? Set the HCA Cut Rank to Excellent on
the left side of the screen when it comes up?

By the way, At your price point $12-14 k you could get a fantastic White Flash eye clean Si1/VS ACA or one of their expert selections...

Yeah looking to stick with blue nile or brilliant earth because they have showrooms by my house and my gf doesn't want to pick something out online.

That being said, looking for a round diamond, 1.7 carat and up, VS2 or better clarity, I color or better, and budget is $14,000.

I used the pricescope search engine and after looking at pictures of the diamonds on the website to weed anything out with large inclusions on the face I'm left with 3 from blue nile.

Diamond 1 (stock number 22390984)

1.75 carat
I color
VS1
Table 57%
Depth 62.7%
Crown angle 36.0
Pavilion angle 40.6
Cut advisor score 1.8
$10,060

Diamond 2 (stock number 22390956)

1.80 carat
I color
VVS1
Table 57%
Depth 62.6%
Crown angle 36.0
Pavilion angle 40.6
Cut advisor score 1.8
$13,780

Diamond 3 (stock number 2382956)

1.81 carat
I color
VS1
Table 56%
Depth 62.6%
Crown angle 35.5
Pavilion angle 40.6
Cut advisor score 1.3
$12,030

@tyty333 any of these stand out to you?

@freddyboston I'm looking for vs2 or better, but from my search filters one of the diamonds that comes up is the vvs1. Not set on that high of a clarity, but if it meets the other parameters then I'm not opposed.

Unfortunetly looking to stick with blue nile or brilliant earth because my gf is quite indecisive and will not pick a setting out online. Both those stores are by our house.

I did same with Blue Nile for an upgrade - ordered a Si1 w/ strong blue FL shipped to BN store so i could make sure it was eye clean / not milky...

You would be surprised to see how difficult it is to see inclusions in SI1 / VS without knowing where they are and without magnification.

We looked at diamonds at a local jeweler the other day and I will agree the Si1 diamonds were a lot cleaner than I expected. Kind of just erroring on the side of caution when it comes to the clarity. But definitely want to find something with very high light performance.

Also I was just reading today that blue nile offers 10% off for nurses so that will be a nice discount!!

@freddyboston Thank you for this find! However, I'm still so confused with the fluorescence... some people insist on avoiding it while others say it shouldn't affect the diamond. Whenever I filter the highest I go is faint. Maybe I'm missing out on better performing diamonds? Idk another one of those things I'm erroring on the side of caution.

Tell me what you think of this diamond from blue nile, part of their astor ideal line. Stock number is 18395636. Sorry I'd post the link but then it has to go through a moderator or something if I do.

Not a huge fan. Arrows look splintery to me

I found a few true hearts on JA, interested to hear your opinion on them. Unfortunately I'm not able to post the links because it goes to the moderator to approve.

Really appreciate the help I'm feeling rather lost with how these companies market their diamonds. Even the "excellent" cut GIA rating basically seems to mean very little the more I learn.

I lovr this one

Me too..crazy colorless...whitish Tatami / banded graining pattern. It might be a type IIa... or at least it came from a large rough....

if you zoom in on the spin...

our experience whitish graining is most commonly
encountered in large (e.g., over 4 ct) diamonds. Most
of these large diamonds are type II (a diamond type
that is relatively free of nitrogen) and often absent of
solid inclusions (see, e.g., Moses and Wang, 2006

#2 is probably the best of the 3...(some obstructions dark areas between arrows @ 12/6o'clock)
The AGS 1.55 color looks like more of K than an I - wouldn't want to pay more than a GIA K $ price for that one....

You are such a big help posting all the pics/links @freddyboston ! (not just here but on other threads too)

The 1.55 looks cut the best but the 1.63 gets you over 7.5 mm and a boost in color.

Can you have BN/JA bring both of them in by any chance?

@freddyboston Really appreciate you posting all these!

I don’t live by any JA’s do you know how I would be able to see them? I agree 1.55 looks cut the best but now that I see the color difference I do think I’m leaning towards the H 1.63

JA mails to your home for review... i think 30 days to keep or return... so you would have to buy it and keep it or return for refund.... Blue Nile is easier for return since you can take to their store and have them put it in their daily shipment to NY HQ

that said i think both limit you to 2 returns a year... issue is most diamonds are in India / virtual inventory and they are shipped from overseas - few stores hold diamonds in their own inventory....

The engagement ring i got my fiancé is pretty much the same cut as the one in your initial post. She gets positive comments from everyone and it's crazy how much fire it has! I'm a fan of the steep and deep.... brilliance is nice but I'd rather have a rock catching eyes from 15ft away at all angle rather than see a nice white brilliance while 2 ft away looking straight into the stone. I'd say it's a beautiful cut stone
