My son is getting ready to propose to his lovely lady. I offered to help him shop for a ring because thanks to Pricescope, I know a lot more about diamonds and gemstones than he does, and because I''ll enjoy the search a whole lot more than he will! I''d really appreciate the help of you extremely knowledgeable folks out there. What''s your take on this diamond?

Thanks,
Janet

I love it!

Honestly, any of the BGD stones are great. Check if it is eye clean of course. I personally might try for a VS2, but I am clarity gun shy

Thanks for your quick reply, DD. I''m not sure I know exactly what I''m looking at, but the ASET and IS look nicer to me on the SI1. Would you take a look, please?

Both look good, if BGD says the SI1 is eye-clean, I would go with that.

I second that. I was at BGD on Friday and he showed me diamonds that were both VS2 and SI1. I held both within 2 to 3 inches of my face and I couldn''t see a darn thing! Go with the SI1!

You could need to have it called in, and it will not qualify for any of the upgrade policies to me knowledge.

If you wanted to avoid the premium for H&A diamond then I personally would go with James Allen who have good prices and photos of many diamonds. They can easily get you IS images too. You need to weed through the inventory, though, but the savings are substantial if having a premium H&A is not a priority for you,.

What about this one? Would there be much of a difference between the ''signature'' and the ''select'' diamonds? From what I''ve been reading, it seems that the select could be just as beautiful and perform just as well as the signature.

This diamond is unlikely to have the same cut quality and beauty as one of the Signature stones from BG, the pavilion angle is rather steep and is also undesirable in an I colour as it can cause colour entrapment as well as possible light leakage. Brian would have to call this diamond in for you if you were interested.
