I've decided that I want to go F or G and now lower than VS2 - between 2.0 and 2.4 cts. I've narrowed it down to the final six here -- any suggestions would be appreciated (or any other ideas you might have). Narrowed it down to the final six here -- any suggestions would be appreciated. I'd go up to $35k if it was an incredible deal - will be getting it set in a simple six prong platinum setting.

Hi there, see if you can get the moderators to move your thread to Rocky Talky. That's where advice regarding stones and other jewelry is asked and commented on.

Good luck!

Edit: Okay I took a quick look at your links and none of them look great. Most were deep and I could even see the leakage under the table from the teeny tiny ASET images (on all of them!). I don't have an ED account so I can't see the larger images.

Here are some parameters to help you choose. Of course there will be very nice stones that fall just outside these, so take with a grain of salt. This is just to give you a start.

Table: 55-58%
Depth: 59-62.3%
Crown Angle: 34-35 degrees
Pavilion Angle: 40.6-40.9 degrees

You can also use the HCA tool, but it too has its limits.

Why are you considering paying for such high clarity diamonds? Any reason or these are just what you are finding?

I wouldn't pay for IF or VVS clarity. I'd rather spend the dollars on size.

Looks like one of the diamonds made the cut with your criteria:

Yes....I still see leakage on the ASET. You have to be careful with the 35 degree and 40.8 degree combo....sometimes it's great and other times not so much. GIA rounds numbers so that's why IS or ASET is so helpful.

AGS does not round as an fyi. Any reason why no AGS?

And would you go to a VS1 in clarity? You'll have more options and you'll get a larger size and/or a better color for your budget. A VS1 will be very clear in terms of visible inclusions.

You pretty much need to stick with their rounds with a 100 cut score. They still usually are not up to the cut as say a Whiteflash ACA, but some of them are nice.

Can't see any information w/o creating an account...

Don't worry DF - they won't tax you if you create an account!!  It's easy and they don't sell the information to any other vendors. Just your email and a password. I've had one for a few years and it seems okay. :wavey:

If you want to take the guess work out of the process and get a spectacular stone, just get any white flash a cut above stone! And ags and Gia are both fine! You just can't get egl and the other ones. People on pricescope have time and time again had extremely positive experiences with the a cut above line.

I honestly don't love any of the options from enchanted diamonds.

What is your reluctance re: AGS? I know that people on other boards will often say "only GIA" but what that usually means is that you shouldn't buy an EGL or IGL certed diamond. AGS certifies much fewer diamonds, but their Ideal (AGS 0) rating is widely regarded as the highest grading available for ANY diamond. Within the ideal category, there are then "super ideals" and someone posted an example of one of those earlier - a stone from Whiteflash. I would go with the stone from Whiteflash over any of the options you have posted so far.

Whiteflash seems to be overpriced and doesn't offer much of a discount to the Rap.

So, whiteflash's price are higher because their stones are super ideal cut. They also come with a lot more information than stones from other vendors. They are not the same product as is being sold by Blue Nile, enchanted diamonds, etc. It takes more rough to get a 1.5 ct super ideal than it does to get you average GIA stone (or even GIA triple excellent). As an example, my e-ring diamond had an indented natural on the girdle. It is positioned so that it doesn't pose any durability challenges or make the girdle excessively thin, and it doesn't have any impact on light performance but it's there. My understanding is that this would disqualify it from being an AGS 0. To get an AGS 0, the cutter would have had to make the diamond small enough that the indented natural was no longer there, resulting in a smaller stone from the same rough that was used to get my 1.5 ct stone.

If you really think that you don't want to pay the markup for Whiteflash, consider calling Yekutiel at ID Jewelry or Mark Turnowski at Brilliantly Engaged. Both will help you get what you want for a reasonable price.

Didn't like any of them, but the G, VS2, 2.19 could be a winner but you definitely need an ASET or at least an IS. Call and ask if it's available.

If you're not finding anything on ED right now, I second Wildcat's recommendation.
