Need Advice, So Confused on diamond to finger size ratio!

Re: Need Advice, So Confused on diamond to finger size ratio

With the continual increase of diamond prices at a surprisingly quick rate, unless you are planning an upgrade within 5 years, I'd say scrap the idea of getting it from a vendor with an upgrade policy because by the time you are ready for the upgrade, the price of the diamond has increased significantly enough that even if you pay double, you might only get a comparable stone to what you already have.

Re: Need Advice, So Confused on diamond to finger size ratio

Congratulations on your upcoming engagement! There are NO size to finger ratios in diamonds or any other stones. Get the best stone that you can afford for your budget, and if your fiancee wants to put a halo around the stone, or wear it as a classic solitaire, that's fine!
When I was younger, we all thought that it was all about the ring, but its all about the marriage and the relationship. :twirl: :twirl:

Re: Need Advice, So Confused on diamond to finger size ratio

While that was a bit rude of your friends to say, I do believe they are coming from a place of ignorance. If they bring it up again I would ask them what they thought a nice quality 1ct costs..its like 6-10k. They are most certainly thinking of the ones at the mall where a 1ct is like 1800, with that I would wonder why you were looking at a .3 too. The best thing for you do to is to talk to her if youre okay with that. She may love the idea of an upgrade if it means she can get higher quality. She may be sentimental and not ever want to upgrade. She may not even like diamonds =) ...I"ve seen the gauntlet of what people prefer. Make an evening of it going to some stores and see what she looks at, I know this is my favorite way to spend the day so romantic :naughty: Perhaps you can hold of on an engagement to save a bit more...been living in sin for like 5 years just because I'm not too keen on giving up my ring and I want size/quality. :Up_to_something: Good Luck to you

Re: Need Advice, So Confused on diamond to finger size ratio

I guess I didn't read what her friends said as being rude and while I realize that there is no actual "finger/ring size ratio chart" out there, it makes sense on some level. Clearly, no one is saying that you have to buy a certain diamond for a certain finger size. However, it should come as no surprise that certain diamond sizes look better on certain finger sizes. The term "better" is of course subjective, but in general terms, certain diamond sizes might be seen as more appealing on certain finger sizes. I understand that you've made a diamond size choice based on cost, but how that translates to your finger is another thing to consider, which is why it's good to try on different sizes, styles, etc. Whatever you decide, I wish you congrats on the engagement :)
