Need advice regarding 5 stone trellis ring from WF

I bought a 5 stone trellis band from WF to wear with my solitaire. The size is 1.25 ctw. I had originally asked for the diamonds to be set as low as possible (which they did) but I am now having second thoughts and I want the diamonds high enough that the culets show! I just don't like how prominent the prongs are looking.

I asked WF about changing it and they said they would be happy to do so as long as I pay shipping both ways, which is of course totally fine with me. It's just such an expensive purchase that I want to be totally happy with it.

I guess I just want to ask you guys what you think I should do. I am genuinely not enjoying the look of diamonds being set low... but do you think being set high will damage my solitaire's prongs? Just fyi, I will be wearing a 1mm rose gold spacer between both rings. It is on its way from an etsy vendor and should get here within a week.

Hi rubyshoes - I have that exact ring and my stones are set low. I love it. I worried it wouldn't be as comfortable if they were higher set. I think it's personal preference - if you aren't happy, do what you need to do to love it!

In real life viewing can you even see the culets?

I think you will need more than a 1mm spacer to keep your e-ring safe. more like 2mm. It needs to be enough so that the girdles do not touch the prongs.

That was my thought too Dreamer.


Personally I like the look of the dimaonds set highter. They look larger and more promient. I would ship back to WF and have them placed up higher and then get a 2mm spacer in RG (love that you chose rose). There will be a bit of a bigger gap but everything will be protected.

Thanks for the replies I sent the ring back. I actually have a 2mm platinum band that I can wear between them if the 1mm rose band turns out to be insufficient. Once I get the ring back, I'll experiment with both bands and decide which one to wear.

I believe WF made the first Trellis ring for my friend and me. Our inspiration ring is Demelza's. Amybling's ring looks more like ours than yours. Yours looks more like the BGD's version. The difference is that the swoops/curves in ours are higher and more extended. The prongs are longer in ours. I am not sure if setting the diamonds higher will be sufficient, as the prongs have already been cut.

I usually like stones set low, but in these types of settings I reckon they look excellent high - I love seeing the culets. Please post more photos when you get it back all boosted up.
