Hi All,

Okay, I am an over-analyzer. Like many of you, I have spent way too much time researching diamonds. I still feel like I'm not that educated and with such a big purchase, I'm stressing out. Could you guys weigh in between two diamonds and possibly offer any advice? Am I ridiculous for wanting an IF diamond? If you guys could provide feedback asap, that would be amazing. Thank you in advance!

Diamond 1 has an Idealscope Image, but Diamond 2 does not. Could you provide feedback on the light performance of this diamond?

I currently have purchased Diamond 1, but am looking at getting Diamond 2 instead. However without idealscope image, I wonder if I really should. The price delta is insignificant for what seems like a better cut diamond. Plus, I won't have to worry about what the heck "surface graining" looks like and how it affects the diamond. The downside to Diamond 2 would be the Girdle Thickness, but its more "consistent".

I prefer diamond 1 to diamond 2 and the IS for diamond 1 is excellent so I see no reason to change. I don't understand the need for IF (especially when its also not perfect, evidenced by the minor details of polish or other comments) and would much rather lowering clarity to get a bigger stone or just to save money. You still won't be able to see anything in VVS stones and VS1 stones without magnification. :wavey:

You could get a super ideal stone for the price of those JA stones that are already vetted for superior light performance and have a much better trade up policy:

And when you expanded your search on JA, this stone would be nice and is a few hundred less than the others:

To answer your question, the 3 lower arrows in diamond 2 are further apart than the others and the arrow at 6 o'clock looks shorter than the other (mind you, the stone could be slightly tilted in the video). The slightly higher crown angle should also make the diamond have more fire.

I really appreciate your feedback ac117, especially on looking at the arrows in the photo. Do you know how likely James Allen and other vendors videos and pictures to be slightly tilted? Based on your observation, it does seem like diamond 1 is the better option.

I appreciate any and all feedback.
