Ok so last month I picked up the stone for my soon to be fiance's engagement ring. The jeweler is the father of a close friend of mine so he threw in a standard white gold setting for the time being till I made up my mind as to the setting. Now after our discussions about rings and all my fiance is between 2 different settings:
1) an eternity band setting:
2) a 3 row micro pave setting (can't find a pic on the boards here with a round brilliant)
I like both settings for the ring but her concern is she doesn't want the ring and matching wedding band to swallow the stone which I agree with also. She doesn't know I have the stone already nor does she know when i'm asking her but she wants me to pick the setting. The reason for the standard setting was I was going to ask her with that and then go back to the jeweler to have her pick the setting she liked most with the stone. She'd rather I pick it, no pressure!! lol
The stone is a 2.40 round brilliant F color stone ideal cut. I was told you could set it higher to make the stone look bigger and to use a 6 prong setting with a larger stone like this.
These are pics of the stone I took the day I picked it up in the standard setting:
her ring finger is about the same proportion as my pinky finger so this is what the ring would look like on her finger as it stands.
Any help/feedback or even pics of people who have seen round brilliants in both types of settings would be great! I appreciate any help I can get, thanks again!!
