i leave in a week for india and then when i get back its only 9 weeks until the Aussie wedding. so i need to organise a wedding band before i go or have a standin cheap plain band for the wedding.

I like the antiquey eternity bands: the marquise look ones, the recent hexagonal bezels eternity ring and modern but very skinny plain eternitys.

But:
~the basket of my ring has a wide base so the wedder will sit very far apart
~I haven't found anyone that will do lower color melee. I'm perfectly happy with the color of my stone (GIA M) unless i'm in jewellery store lighting or have a white diamond eternity band next to it
~the band on my e-ring is platinum and the thinnest metal I've seen. I don't have calipers but I'd guess 1mm thick. so the wedder needs to be low profile or it will look silly. my ering is a size 4.75 and a bit big on me, so i will go a 4.5 wedder and hope that compensates for it being thicker
~I'm cheap. >$1000 budget
~I'm out of time

My ring on this thread https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/introducing-my-new-lovely-3-5-oec.186508/

I have new better photos that i will have to post sometime... planning 2 weddings in one year should be a full time job!

Help me??

I would go on eweddingbands.com and get a cheap PLAT thin band to wear till you figure out exactly what you want. I bet it would be around $300. That will take off the stress of finding something right now.

Do you want diamonds? I have a G/H eternity paired with my M. I bet IDJ would make one in an even lower color.

I would recommend either a simple platinum wb with perhaps some engraving or a wedding band with single or swiss cuts. I have both and next to my OEC they look great. A perfect match. I also didn't care for the look of MRB diamonds in a wb next to my OEC and these 2 options work well IMO. I got the single/swiss cut diamond wb from my antique jewelry store and the simple engraved platinum band from ebay. The plat band without diamonds cost only about $300. Good luck hippi!

I've searched a few local antique jewellers for antique eternity band and have gotten responses like: we don't stock antique eternity bands because theres no market for them, sorry what is an eternity band? and my personal favourite: they didn't make eternity bands back then! So I'm limited to online shopping. I'm thinking genuine antiques or etsy but the etsy dealers I've contacted can't get lower colored melee

I've had a look for antique diamond eternities on the usual PS websites and not had any luck at size 4.5. i will buy an engraved band off leigh jay nacht if i can't find anything else.

i guess I'm just after style suggestions but also links if anyone finds something in 4.5?

could IDJ make a wedder under $1000 quickly though?

I also have an L/Mish stone and was going to suggest single cuts as well. Also the rings that alternate the marquise shape with round usually work pretty well.

What about a vintage colored stone one? French cut sapphires or something.

No comparison to the color of your center stone that way.

Other than that I like a simple plat one.

Aussie ebay has them all the time, you just have to know what to look for. Ditto pawn shops here you can find amazing stuff by accident. Are there some near you? I seem to remember some near Caloundra that had decent rings but that was a few years ago now. Many are lowered coloured and there can be some bargains. US ebay and Rubylane also have them. I am a 4.75, finding smaller sized ones can be tricky but its not impossible.....

There are always plain platinum Tiffany bands for sale on ebay that you could get resized here as well....

I forgot, the Gold & Diamond Exchange in the city which you go up in a lift to get to in the Queen St Mall has a quite a few vintage diamond bands that are good prices. I tried on a really nice one with small vintage cushions that was a fair price, last time I was in there, I don't remember if they have plain bands because I wasn't looking but they do have a few genuine Antique diamond ones. Ken Penfold (Penfolds) might also have some and Kellies Antiques up a level in the Brisbane Arcade might have something if you ring them first. They have a lot of reproduction stuff.

I love the look of a thin engraved band with your stunning solitaire. And then you can add a variety of diamond/gemstone bands for birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

Plain band.
The most useful, oft-worn band you'll ever own, promise!

Imo, the key to minimizing color contrast is to have very small diamonds. I love starsparkle's wedding ring with the alternating marquises and rounds, I wore mine with a single cut band for a while. I also have an engraved band but I missed that little bit extra of sparkle.

My ering's center stone is a 2.17 ct transitional cut M. My husband had the ring made using a family stone and 3 stone clusters flank the center stone and they are modern cut and I/J in color I believe. 4 of the side stones are .25 and the outermost 2 are .15. I tried in various bands and knew I wanted eternity but the modern bands I found weren't working with my ering because of the size of stones.
Ultimately I found the perfect vintage band on Leigh Jay Nacht's site, a low set eternity band of .20s I think G/H in color?

It was a finding a needle in a haystack situation and i was lucky at the time I only lived 9 blocks north of 47th st. in NYC, but i think that now there are even more online vendors, estate jewels becoming available, etc. you should be able to find something to compliment your ering.
The color difference between my center stones and side stones is not a huge deal, and now I have a few rings that I stack and put between my ering and this band anyway.

I would call Leigh and tell him what you are looking for? It was years ago but he was really nice to work with.

A Cartier trinity.
Even know a small one should be around 1k, or get one used on eBay. A nice under 3mm one would be divine.

Leigh Jay nacht has a bunch of affordable thin vintage bands

Also - have you considered champagne diamonds? They are so warm and soft. So pretty with a warm colored diamond e-ring

This might be too far out there but I think a leafy organic band would be very pretty too...a little a la cathy waterman style

This ring is very unique, but the right size and price and I think the rose gold hearts would compliment your ering setting hearts http://antiqueengagementrings.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=3956

Not a true eternity but could probably be taken down to. 4.5 for you. http://antiqueengagementrings.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=3955

Going totally off the reservation, this ruby eternity band is lovely, right size, thin, and would be unexpected. http://aantiqueengagementrings.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=3707

This could probably be brought down a half size for you and gives you at least a little sparkle and has a unique shape, so the fact that the rings dont sit flush would look cool i think. http://antiqueengagementrings.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=3828

He has at least 5 vintage platinum bands that would fit the bill as well.

Just wanted to throw out a few suggestions:

A little tight but the color is h-j which usually means a little lower in color. Probably wouldn't have much color difference.

Ditto the suggestion on single cuts. They glitter rather than sparkle and if they are smaller, you won't notice the color diff much.

You can find cheaper engraved bands if you wait a while and scour ebay. Agree to contact ID jewelry to see if they can source lower color stones.

Along with single cuts, I also like step cuts with m colored stones. I have an m/n and have a single cut band, engraved band as well as a French cut band .If you want to see pics, you know where to find me :)

I see that this is a bit delayed in my response...but thought I would post a picture of my rings together as I too have an OEC in M color from Leigh Jay Naught. Hopefully helpful to anybody who might stumble upon this thread later.

I intended to get my wedding band also from LJN but wanted something very skinny. I wanted it to go almost unnoticed when worn with my e-ring. I stumbled upon a few on amazon and with a small budget that didn't really work for a custom band I decided to give it a try. Keep in mind my e-ring is platinum and the wedding band is white gold. I can't see any difference in metal color with the tiny diamonds around the top and was surprised that this might not even be a temporary ring. I might get a platinum one later but for now I am very happy with my $130 band to go with my antique e-ring. I will try to get the link for the wedding band. I get asked if I bought them as a set all of the time.

Ditto. I love my gold band. It never comes off. When I wear my blingy band, it's stacked with the gold band but without the engagement ring. Otherwise, it's just too much, unless I'm going blingtastic, in which case it sits as a spacer between the diamond band and the ering.
