Hi Everyone, I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice on what the most cost effective way of making something like this. I'm sure some of you know about the whole Brad Pitt and Damiani fiasco where Brad sued Damiani for selling a ring that he designed for Jennifer Anistion. I love this design and was thinking to use this style in our wedding bands. However, I've been talking to my local jeweler and they tell me it would cost 2k+ just to make it as it is best to hand fabricate the piece instead of casting it. What do you guys think? Are there are vendors or jewelers that you recommend that might be able to tackle this? I just feel 2k for this ring is too overpriced. I can understand that to buy the actual Damiani ring will cost around that price but I'm guessing the high cost is due to the name brand associated with it. Wouldn't making something like this with a local jeweler cost much less? Is my jeweler trying to overcharge or do you guys think it's a fair price?

I got quotes for this a few years ago. They were around $2000 - $2500 for platinum.

You can find them second hand. That's what I'd do.

What ring size do you need? And what is your budget?

2k for hand-forged and platinum is not overpriced. That's what it costs.

Thanks everyone for their input. I'm glad to hear I'm not being swindled by my jeweler. I have considered buying used as I've seen a handful of these rings for sale on eBay for around $500-$1500 for the real deal. However, my fiance is against that as they says those rings are considered "divorce rings" people sell since they are second hand. Shes very superstitious. My ring size is 7.0 tight fit to 7.25 comfort tight. I will have to decide to see if we can afford it. I think you guys are right, if I'm going to spend that much money, might as well buy the real deal.

The reason why I wouldn't buy the original is that the logo on it is nasty!

My reason for not buying is imagining all the crud that would get stuck in that channel! :errrr:
