We have been doing a similar hinge system but with a second catch for additional security.
Trouble is gold alloys are not great for these things.
We had a lady loose a very valuable ring once.

I prefer speed bumps (like on roads) not little uncomfortable balls.
But almost everyone places them too close together.
They need to be at 1/3rd position - not 1/4.
think Mercedes symbol.
Big knuckles can always wiggle in and the bumps are self aligning every time you clench / close a hand.

I have 2 CLIQ rings and they are fabulous! I highly recommend. Extremely secure.
