I did some research and narrowed my selection to 2-3 diamonds.
Criteria:
- round
- 1.8 - 2.0
- ideal/excellent cut
- G/H
- VS2/SI1
- $20-25
- "young people ring" (24 years old)
Diamond #1:
- round
- 2.00
- H
- SI1
- excellent cut
- excellent polish
- excellent symmetry
- no fluorescence
- excellent light return
- excellent fire
- very good scintillation
- very good spread
- HCA score of 1.5
- 61.8 total depth, 57 table, 34.0 crown angle, 41.0 pavilion angle
Diamond #2:
- round
- 1.99
- H
- VS2
- very good cut
- excellent polish
- excellent symmetry
- no fluorescence
- very good light return
- excellent fire
- excellent scintillation
- very good spread
- HCA score of 1.1 (but it has a "VG" cut... does GIA's cut matter?)
- 60.7 total depth, 57 table, 34.5 crown angle, 40.2 pavilion angle
Diamond #3 (maybe, see below why):
- round
- 1.81
- H
- VS2
- very good cut
- excellent polish
- very good symmetry
- no fluorescence
- excellent light return
- excellent fire
- excellent scintillation
- very good spread
- HCA score of 0.8
- 61.6 total depth, 55 table, 36.0 crown angle, 40.2 pavilion angle
So Diamond #3 has a lower HCA score but it's rated as Very Good... should I disregard this diamond despite it's low HCA score because it's given a "very good cut/polish" and also its smaller? If so, I guess that narrows it down to Diamond #1 or #2.
Which diamond would "sparkle" the most in a restaurant setting?
