@sledge - either of those stones would have been perfect for this project. Unfortunately - as far as Nurse-88's project is concerned - they sold the day I listed them.
Thank you. I’m just waiting for BN to email me back confirming if the stone is eye clean, and if there are any hues to it. They said they had to send a request to “the vault” and will email me the response by (hopefully) tomorrow.OP, I love the I SI2 from BN. It is a gorgeous stone and super eye-clean. The inclusions do not bother me. My last stone was a 2.1ct I SI2- also very eye-clean, so don’t let the clarity grade be a concern at all. It is great that you have it on hold. I would purchase that stone and the double halo from BN and call it a day.![]()

BN confirmed it is eye clean, with no milky, hazy tones to it.The stone is practically eye-clean in the video, so I would not be worried. “I” is a very safe color and the stone seems to have the typical yellow hue in its profile (which is normal) no brown or gray.![]()

Excellent! The stone has perfect proportions as well! Great find! We can’t wait to see it set in the double halo and hope that your SO loves it as well!BN confirmed it is eye clean, with no milky, hazy tones to it.
100% insure it!! Why didn’t you have BN do the setting as well? Or will you buy the setting separately? The stone is in my possession! It looks perfect to me. Definitely eye clean. My iPhone 8 will not focus on the diamond for the life of it! Anyway, that’s a battle for another day.
Blue Nile recommended insurance, which is coming out to $5/day for the loose stone for now.
The stone is not being kept at my residential address, as my future fiancé lives with me. It is being kept at another residential address, where homeowners insurance is present.
It’s complicated because every invoice/blue nile receipt shows my name and address, but the stone is being stored elsewhere, so I have doubts I’ll be able to use the other homeowners insurance to file a claim if I needed to.
The stone will be there for another month while I wait for the Naom Carver setting to come in.
What should I do? Insure it on my own while it’s being kept elsewhere? Or leave it where it is with the other parties home owners insurance?
Sorry, I thought I mentioned it here, maybe I didn’t?100% insure it!! Why didn’t you have BN do the setting as well? Or will you buy the setting separately?
Sledge, once the ring has been presented, there is a home owners policy they can look into. If that doesn't work it wouldn't hurt checking out other alternatives. Again, once the ring goes on the hand, you can look into the policy & we can help decipher the language for you to help you if you should stay with them or go with Jeweler's mutual.
This December 2017 thread also includes links to others with photography pointers:I know Kenny had mentioned a good way to take pics but I can't remember at this moment what it was. I still take terrible pictures. LOL
Oops! I meant $5/month! Yikes! Sorry.Since you're purchasing the Noam Carver semi-mount from Bill LeBouef Jewelers, how about asking them if you could store the diamond in their vault while they await delivery of the semi-mount -- if their own "jeweler's block" insurance policy would cover any loss or damage while it's in their care. Even if their own insurance policy won't cover an "outside" stone, it's doubtlessly safer in their vault than anywhere else (unless you rent a safety deposit box at a local bank).
$150 for a month of coverage -- 30 days @ $5/day -- seems pricey to me. That's more than 8% of the purchase price of the stone.
Whew!Oops! I meant $5/month! Yikes! Sorry.
Congratulations on your stone. So happy the stone checked out & you were pleased with it. Now I can sigh a huge sigh of relief when told me the stone was beautiful & all you could see was nothing but sparkles.Adam working his magic & getting the ring in sooner than the original ship date is a huge plus. I think you'll be fine where the stone it at the moment for less than 4 weeks. I actually don't even think it needs to be insured while the stone is where it is, which is a pretty secure location. I don't recall you mentioning there is a lot of traffic at that location. But if you are more comfortable doing so, & will alleviate some stress, then do what makes you confortable. Nurse88 does not live near the store she purchased the setting from & would be at min. a 2- 2 1/2 hr drive. Adam, store owner, is fantastic & accommodating. I suggested Nurse 88 make an appt. to bring the stone in once the setting arrives, they will set it while she waits. Shipping costs with insurance is pretty high here.

Keep trying to take pics. You'll need to take quite a few as taking diamond pictures are challenging. Sometimes they sparkle so much the camera wont focus. Try a magnifying glass, or turning off the flash or eliminating the glare. I know Kenny had mentioned a good way to take pics but I can't remember at this moment what it was.
