I don''t believe there is a lower limit to the weight of a diamond that can be ''Branded''. Any ''special'' faceting arrangement and some that are surprisingly ordinary have been formally trademarked and protected.
If you meant to speak of super large diamonds like those of the crown jewels which have names, then I think it is as much a matter of who owns it, who found it, who gave it or who wore it and still there is no exact lower weight limit although there are no 1 carat famous diamonds that I know of. If you had a bright red, natural 1 carat diamond, I am sure you could put a name on it. It would be so rare as to deserve it.

LOL! As I was reading your post about no 1 carat named stones I was thinkging ''But if you had a nice red 1 carat, that would cerainly qualify! I''ll have to point that out!'' You beat me to it. What is it they say about great minds . . .?
