When I first had my previous ring made, the prongs looked like ugly blobs

The ring was then remain and the prongs ended up with a lovely teardrop shape

you can see the same style better here

I am now having a new ring made and it is in the final stages. I told the jeweler a few weeks ago that I wanted the prongs to look like my old prongs, but I just got a message that the ring will be ready tomorrow and I'd like to remind him about the prong style I want. Is there a particular name for this style of prong? Or should I just call it "teardrop shaped" or "tapered to a point" or something?

Thanks!

Claw prongs, It helps if you show the jeweller a few example pictures too.

Claw prongs for the win! Ditto on the example pics!

Thank you! He did take pictures of the old ring, so he should know. But if he did forget, is that something that could be fixed later without having to remake the entire ring?

Shaping the prongs is one of the last things done to a ring before it's finished. If he didn't claw the prongs, he may have to retip them in order to claw them. A good jeweler wouldn't charge you extra to do that if you requested claw prongs to begin with, and the request was somehow overlooked.
