OMG Vintage lover!!! I love the ring you posted a picture of!!! I think I want to make this ring instead! Swoooooon! The baguette halo and baguettes on the sides. Wow ! Amazing ! Thanks for posting that! It is so gorgeous and definitely an inspiration!

That ring is by Daniel K. http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/jewelry-specials/closeout-jewelry/rings/246CO1/0/ I'd just buy this one. No need to reinvent the wheel. His rings are FREAKING AMAZING. Seriously. They are just incredible in real life with the workmanship. Call and ask for Julian and and tell him Gypsy (my name is Layla) sent you to and ask if Bill will negotiate further on that price. Since it is a Designer Ring, the pricing is justified. And Pearlman's is one of my personal all time favorite vendors period. And the ring is new.

Ha! I had just looked that ring up to post! I will absolutely agree with Gypsy that I would FAR rather have the Daniel K ring with a
beautiful asscher and fine quality setting any day over the one originally posted!

(But I do SO love that art deco ring from nikki, too!!!! )

Cocopop (cute name!), we're in Australia too and dealt with Pearlman's to get my ering. Their service was excellent and they are experienced at mailing out here. MUCH less risky IMO. They will set stones from other vendors too if you'd like an Octavia instead of a traditional asscher.

But they won't be able to change out the stone in that one ring. That ring is made around that stone so it's there to stay. An Octavia does mean a custom setting, and that's a definitely possibility. And I'd be happy to help you find the right person to make it. And actually the person I'd recommend is in NZ.

I really have to say that I'd be on the phone with Pearlmans (or email them for time zone difference) and asking them how flexible their price on that Daniel K is.

Yes I love that ring !.. Is that really expensive though? 26k for a 2.1 carat? I understand it is a better clarity and colour though. Does anyone know how big this ring would be ? I want to do that cardboard cutout that Gypsy said to do so I can see how it looks on the hand!..
i love this forum btw! You are all so lovely and it's really helpful. I do think my heart is set on an asscher, I just love how art deco the cut looks- modern , clean but old as well.. When I was originally looking for a ring, I found one a year ago from peter souchy jewellers and it was an antique asscher diamond set in a new setting but by the time we got to it someone bought it. I do wish this Pearlman ring's stone was just a little bigger, maybe 2.5 or 3 carat. I am quite tall and have big hands- rings look tiny on me!

I'm so glad people recall which person made that ring-and I"m glad to help :)

If that stone is to "small" for what you were looking for (and the price) I would HIGHLY recommend using Mike in NZ to make your ring. Here is his site as well as the most recent PS ring he made

Now I LOVE the octavia. In fact I would highly recommend it. That being said-they aren't cheap at all. They buy the rough (which is super expensive right now and only increasing so I suggest you figure out sooner vs later what you want since we've heard rumors of another 30% increase). They are cut for light performance (and it's highly unlikely you'll ever seen another like it) which also increases the price. One of our PS members Karl-actually designed the cut.

Here are 2 of them for sale

I actually recommend this one-it has a video too

If price is a huge factor I would go with the pearlmans ring-you're getting a great size/color/clarity and designer setting for a fair price. If it's NOT a factor (at least not a huge one) I would get one of the stones from GOG and have Mike design a setting for you. You're probably looking at 50k for the ring vs 20k but you'll have a one of the kind-no one will ever see another like it-stunner center stone and killer custom setting ALL for you. The halo is going to add coverage no matter which ring you choose-keep that in mind :)

Can't wait to see the final product!

Call Julian and ask. He's a doll. He'll be happy to give you exact measurements. You can also email just put Julian's name in there and say that Gypsy sent you about the Daniel K. Also ask if their price listed is negotiable.

Keep in mind that when you do the paper cut out, a diamond ring will look bigger because of the 3-D and the light return. So it will give you more visual impact. So what you are seeing with the paper is the minimum look. :wavey:
