I wanted to pass on my experience so far with Whiteflash.
I had written earlier that my wife had lost the stone from her ring. Originally, we planned to replace the whole ring now, since finances are considerably different than when her original ring was purchased. We were shopping the internet, but also going to stores to see stones and settings ''live'' to help our selection.
Like most people, we had a budget to stay within. If we stayed within our budget, which we were, and replaced the ring and stone, the main stone was not as large as I wanted her to have. It just did not reach out and grab me, so to speak. So we changed our plans and decided to use the budget on a stone only, and use her old ring. At a later date, we would upgrade the ring.
I was mainly shopping Whiteflash on line, because I happen to live in Houston where Whiteflash is located, and because of Whiteflash''s reputation. It seemed unbeatable, get a quality stone from a highly respected jeweler at an internet price, but still get to see the stone in person before buying. My wife and I fairly well knew what we wanted, but went to see the stone first. Whiteflash is in at least an eight story office building in a nice part of town. This whole office building is full of nothing but diamonds and jewelry! My guess is that this way the different tenants can somewhat share the necessary cost associated with security for such valuable inventory.
We arrived for our appointment, and were soon escorted in to Brian Gavin''s office. Brian was soft spoken, and very laid back in his time with us. He was not a high pressure salesman. Of course he is a businessman, but he seems to love his work. He tutored us, and explained diamonds as well as possible to a newbie like myself. Although we fairly well had our mind made up about the stone when we arrived, rather than rush us through, he spent almost 2 hours with us! I was even able to read the lasered certificate number on the girdle of the diamond. And this diamond did reach out and grab me!
I left his office feeling very comfortable and happy about my purchase. Today, I wired the money to Whiteflash to take advantage of the Pricescope discount. We can''t wait to go back and pick up my wife''s ring with her new "A Cut Above H&A" diamond.
My purpose of this long post is to encourage other newbies such as myself to take advantage of a business such as Whiteflash when in the market for jewelry, and diamonds in particular. I strongly believe that you will get so much more for your money. The regulars on this site already know this, but I feel certain there are a tremendous amount of people out there such as myself. I will post again after we pick up her ring.

Great post! Thanks for sharing your experiences. One day I hope to visit WF myself, just to see where my little project originated. And please, please come back and share pictures when you get the finished product!

I had a good experience with WF as well.

Although, I was a little disappointed later, because I tried to see if they have a plain gold band that would match my e-ring and I never got a response!

I have been looking all over for something that matches (18K, shank with a straight edge but slightly curved top, 2.5mm...) I think I *may* have FINALLY found something that will work at a B&M... but, I was a little put off that I never got a response back (for a small purchase) after dropping $4K there! hmmph.

ETA: OK - so this post was a bit harsh... I should have actually called to follow up. I'm sure you all know how it goes with traipsing around the city for hours looking for a band to "match" the ring you ordered because you thought it was so simple! :)

shift, I really envy you. I would give anything to be able to look at my diamonds before buying them. Unfortunately, geography does not allow me that luxury. Lucky you!

And your assessment of Brian and WF does not surprise me at all. They''re an outstanding company.

Please post pics if you can, and congrats!

Kristy_Lyn, please accept our apologies.

Valid emails sometimes get filtered and this may have happened; though if you emailed us before successfully it shouldn't have. In any event I assure you we want to be responsive. If you ever email in the future and don't hear back within 24 hours we hope you will call in so we can solve the problem.
