Can you all have a look at these pictures and let me know if you think my wedding set looks funny?

Now, I am an amatuer and I''m not sure if I''m being paranoid or not so opinions are appreciated.

I think my wedding band is so much wider than my engagement ring. my wedding band was about a size 9 when i saw it
at the jeweler, and he said he would resize it for me. Maybe BECAUSE he resized the wedding band from such a big size, it ended
up looking oval, rather than round. i have attatched a picture of my engagement ring with the wedding band so you can see how
round my engagement ring is, and how oval my wedding band is in comparison. I''m really not crazy about the fact that
they are two different widths. i have to get it resized again because it is too big, and I wanted to mention to him that he should make it rounder. Is this a reasonable request? Or would it mess with the architecture of the actual ring?

Don''t get me wrong, I love my wedding band otherwise. It is perfectly lovely. 0.08 carats x 10 diamonds. F VS1''s for all.

first picture. (had some troubles with the site before)

I think your set is beautiful, but I do see what you mean about the rings being different shapes. I don''t know if it can be fixed without messing with the integrity of the wedding band, though, because reshaping it might cause the diamonds to be more likely to pop out. I''d talk to the jeweler about it, but don''t be surprised if he says the only way to fix it is to reset the diamonds into a different or recast setting. Eternity bands are notoriously difficult to resize, and I think even 1/2 or 3/4 eternities have a limit of around 2 sizes up or down (though this can vary). I hope you can find a way to make it work, though!

Half eternity bands should only be resized about 1 size maximum, because of the issue you have run into. My own half eternity has a similar issue because I sized it up. In fact your jeweler should have made the ring in your size. Is it too late to tell him this and have it donw properly? You simply should not be resizing diamond bands by that much.

gorgeous set, but i agree with Dreamer - it wouldn''t be structurally sound if resized more than a size or so. it looks as though you are much smaller than a 9 to me. in the end, it might cbother you a bit but it looks like a lovely combination to me. unless you really can''t stand it I would wait until you can get the diamonds reset from scratch so that it matches your er in shape. good luck

I really love your set. Your set looks great on. I had my platinum wedding band sized down and I swear it looks oval now also.

I like your set together but I also see the wedding band is shaped like an oval. I would recommend taking it back and getting it fixed. After all the jeweler should want to make his customer happy.

thanks for your responses. I''m a bit irked now as the original ring was about 8.5 or 9 and my ring size is 4.5
I would think my jeweler would know better than to resize it down that much. my initial worry was that the diamonds
would pop out if the ring were resized more. I will visit the jeweler soon and let you know what the results are.

I bought a size 7 or 7.5 ring and needed it sized down to a 4.5 and I was told by the jeweller that it could not be sized down that small as the diamonds would pop out (its an anniversary ring) so it was sized as small as possible and I just wear it that way on my right hand. Apparently it is impossiblet to resize rings by a huge amount and keep the diamonds in the ring. My ring is squared off on the bottom but it doesn''t bother me. We got a great deal on the ring and that is worth more than having it shaped a bit oddly. I think it was important that your jeweller didn''t try to make your ring round at the risk of you losing your diamonds. I suspect the only way to make it rounder would be to remake the ring completely and that is way more than a sizng job.

I had the totally similar situation and it bugged me. This is what I did. I had a stone removed from each side of the band and the band curved more - it's round now (it was oval like yours) and it doesn't stick out at all. I hated taking 2 diamonds off, but I am MUCH happier with the uniform look and the round ring.

i think it looks lovely, but see what you mean about it being like an oval. I think you''ve gotten some great suggestions for making the ring more round if you''d like.

i love your set together!

What a pretty wedding set? Would you mind telling us the specs on your diamond, and the make/model of the mounting?

I can''t believe he was willing to size it sown so much! I agree with dreamer, it''s worth asking about remaking it if it''s not too late... It would be so sad to have a diamond pop out.

I, too, had my half-eternity ring made smaller, and it came out oval - because they would have to re-do the entire ring (or the stones would be at risk of falling out). Makes sense if you think about it. So... I''m in the same boat as you, and my ring is wider than I want it, but ... I wanted this ring! If I had it to do over again, I wouldn''t. *sigh*

I think it looks lovely. It''s a mix n match setting I believe.

You have a beautiful set. Having the wedding band oval, though, would bug me and if it bothers you, talk to the jeweler about it. There is no reason to settle for less than what you paid for. If the oval shap wasn''t an issue with you, you wouldn''t have posted about it, right?

Best of luck.

So the update is that I had the wedding band sized down even further today. It was sized down almost 1/2 a size (I guess I''m about a size 4.25 or a tiny bit smaller) and it is even more oval now. They were killing me while they were re-sizing ...I had to watch while they were sawing it down, putting the ring in liquid and fire, etc. Let me tell you, it was quite a show!! But in the end, it looks like a new ring.

But the ring fits better now. I will just accept my fate since I choose the ring. In the end, I love it. But for those of you who haven''t purchased your ring yet, learn from my mistake. Don''t get your eternity band resized too much because it will end up looking oval!

When you had it in for resizing did you ask about removing one stone from each side?? I wear sz 4 too and that''s how I got my oval ring round again. Do you have any pics of the resized ring - does it still stick out on the sides, I''m wondering.

Is it uncomfortable when it is on your finger? If not, I''d leave it alone... It looks great on your finger!

I did not. I just didn''t feel like asking the jeweler, because he was not very sympathetic to begin with.

I have a good feeling the answer would have been ''no'' or ''you need to pay extra''
