My trip to Harry Winston and DeBeers

Last week I was in Dallas and was able to go to Harry Winston and DeBeers and try on some amazing jewels! I took lots of pictures. The pictures are all taken of my right hand, size 7 ring finger.

Before I dive into the pictures, I wanted to say that I worked with Amy, the salon manager, at Harry Winston and it was a magical experience! She was so fun, gracious, warm, not jaded. It was the best jewelry store experience I've ever had! If you're thinking of making a Harry Winston purchase, I highly recommend working with Amy Wendt in Dallas.

On to the pics! First up, Harry Winston:

And now for the DeBeers baubles! I didn't write down carat weights on these ones so I'm going from memory and may be off...

A 2.5 carat fancy yellow radiant with trillion sides

I do like the DeBeers store here; it has the sparkliest lights. I am always too intimidated to ask to try stuff on though. They often have awesome eternity rings. I haven't ever been to the HW, though.

The emerald cut with baguettes is killer. Now I'm planning my own little expedition to try it on.

Wow, that's a lotta bling! Which one was your favorite?

A lot of bling indeed! I had one clear standout favorite - and unfortunately I was so enamoured I forgot to take a picture! It was Harry Winston's sunflower earrings. The picture on their website to me looks pretty but maybe a touch too girly but in person they are so sophisticated, luxe, perfect. The workmanship was exquisite. I really loved them!

As for the rings, I loved the emerald cut the best at Harry Winston. Growing up there were two diamond rings that I adored (belonging to my friends' moms); an emerald cut solitaire and an art deco ring with what I think must have been an OEC. And all these years later I'm still most attracted to step cuts and old cuts! I also really liked the round and cushion at DeBeers.

This was a fact finding mission to learn what I like and what different carat weights look like on my (not petite) hand. I learned that micropave is not for me. Some examples I've seen on PS (Leon, Victor) look extremely beautiful so maybe it was just the HW style of micropave that didn't click for me. Also learned that while I love how fancy shaped diamonds look in settings, for some reason I'm not in love with modern faceting in a fancy shape (step cuts excluded). And turns out I prefer light fancy yellow diamonds to fancy or fancy intense. The one (and only!) money saving discovery of the excursion!

It was a wonderful time!

ETA: The mega eternity was incredible! A once in a lifetime kind of ring. It actually felt the most extravagant, grand, luxe of any of them!

Wow, amazing bling!! Thanks so much for taking the time to take pics and post them, it was fun checking out all of these pieces! I think my favorite is the 4.5 cushion halo. A girl can dream, can't she?
