My sapphire e-ring

Dear All:

I have been frequenting this site for months, and have gotten so much help and info. I couldn''t help bragging about my new sapphire engagement ring. It''s a 1.48 Ceylon sapphire (Type II-VVS, Medium blue) from Simply Sapphires. The setting is 14K white gold with two step-cut trapezoids (.3ttw, all the info i have on these). The setting was made by Ron at Michael''s Jewlery in Columbia, SC. I LOVE it (almost as much as the sweet boy who gave it to me). Thanks again for this site. It''s a wonderful resource. I had never purchased stones or jewelry onlie before, and my fears were eased by all of the knowlegeable people here.

I love it! My mother has a saphire center stone as well, so I always thought I would get one. I looked a one very similar to yours while ring shopping with my sweetie, but we both just fell in love with the one I got. I''ll get my saphire RHR eventually.

Well, thank you all so much for the compliments. I feel like I owe a lot of the creation of this ring to you folks. First I forgot to mention that this is a cushion cut stone (I''m sure you could tell, but that''s what it is). For the band, my jeweler has some bands that come from Manchester England. I forget the name of the company, but they do beautiful hand carved work. My fiance''s band will have a smooth, polished finished with an engraved design on the front of the shank. I plan to have the same engraving, but on the ring itself. It should be about the width of my e-ring band, and the jeweler is going to put a curve on it. He also wants me to join the rings together after the ceremony, but I''m not sure. He says the rubbing might causes some prong damage, but part of me wants to keep the rings separate. I don''t wear my e-ring when I play sports or anything, but I might wear my band. Well, I have plenty of time to figure it out since my wedding isn''t until the summer after this one coming.

That size sapphire looks very big on your hands - I think you made a good choice not to go larger.
