I am so glad I went with a royal asscher instead of a square emerald cut.

Would you mind sharing why *exactly* you feel that way?

Pricescope is such a great resource for people making similar decisions & people detailing their own perceptions & outcomes is a big part of that! As it happens, I feel exactly the opposite way. I *prefer* the bold, wide-stepped look of non-Royal asschers. But I think BOTH types of stones are wholly facinating & unique & lovely.

Congrats on a GORGEOUS ring!

To Decodelighted:

I got to look at a royal asscher and a square emerald side by side. Instantly, I could tell the difference between the two. I always loved the step cut, but noticed that they didn''t have the brilliance like traditional round shapes do. Even then, I still wanted the step cut because it looks so elegant. So when I saw the royal asscher, it just took my breath away. It definitely has the brilliance I was looking for. It costed an arm and a leg for me to have a royal asscher but it is all worth it to me. I had a hard time finding the "perfect" square emerald. Most of them had large tables and weren''t deep enough. That''s when I decided to search for a royal asscher. My 1.99 still looks big on my finger from top view and from side view, you can see that its very deep. It doesn''t look too "busy" like some people say. It truly is perfect. Maybe cause mine is almost 2 carats. I can see each step very clearly too. I hope this explanation makes sense. Thanks

so incredible! I love the RA cut...

To Starryeyed:

Yes, GIA does grade royal asschers. If you''d like to see my GIA report online, just look it up on GIA''s site. GIA report number is 15194658 and it''s 1.99 carats.

That is so beautiful! How do you stop staring at it? I''ve been wanting a RA solitaire for a while now. Can you tell me the mm of your band? I was also wondering if you noticed any RAs between 1.25-1.50, and their prices, at Mednikow? It''s hard to find a RA jeweler. I''ve met jewelers who don''t even know what an asscher cut is! Once again, gorgeous ring!

Wow, thats an amazing stone!! Enjoy it!

So beautiful! I really didn''t know anything about Asschers until PS, but the more I look at them, the more I could see myself having one :). Wear it with pride!

Wow! That is a gorgeous ring. Congrats. I love Royal Asschers and the setting you have is perfect for it.

Wow, it has SO much fire! If it looks that colorful in the pics, I can''t even imagine the rainbows it gives off on your hand. Enjoy!!!

It''s gorgeous! Love the classic solitaire setting and yummy asscher!

Gotta say those RAs are indeed stunning. If I was to own an asscher, I would probably go with the RA probably because I''ve only seen beautiful ones.

Deco, I do not have nearly enough patience to hunt the perfect specs for a square emerald as you and some of the other asscher fanatics do. You guys amaze me with your knowledge and perseverence.
