Hi everyone!

Just wanted to share my replacement engagement ring I just got from Peter Norman Jewelers in Brentwood. Long story short, I lost my engagement ring about 2 months ago (it was about 7 years old) and the insurance company referred me to Peter Norman. I cannot say enough how great Nevada was at the store. I was so upset by the loss and she helped me through the entire process. I came here, and learned so much, and was debating whether to get a stone from GOG and setting by Mark Morrell, but in the end the ease of dealing with a local jeweler was the most important thing to me. It's so strange to have to buy your own engagement ring; my husband offered to do it but I know he really didn't want to and I felt so responsible for losing it that I wanted to do it myself. The best part about Peter Norman was that I was able to buy the diamond wholesale directly from the dealer and saved the sales tax (I know, technically I should pay it) so all I paid the jeweler for was the setting.

The stats:
1.25 carat H SI1 - it's totally eyeclean and it was the right price!
Size 3.75 platinum ring
I love the vintage look of this setting, but at the same time it has a modern edge to it. I tried my best to take photos, but it is SO hard! There are three graduated diamonds on each side.

Close up of the profile - it doesn't look good in the photo, but trust me, in person it's just gorgeous!

Finally, an attempt at a macro shot...

Just wanted to thank everyone on the board for all of the info you are willing to share. I didn't ask any questions, but I learned so much from reading everyone's posts. Thank you all!

Its a gorgeous ring! Love the detailing on the profile

Congrats- Its beautiful :)

Beautiful ring!!!

it's beautiful!

Thanks everyone! I just can't stop looking at it - my husband says he feels like we got engaged all over again!! The most important thing I've learned is that even if you look at all of the specs of a diamond, what it looks like in person is what matters. This isn't the most spectacular diamond on paper, but in person, I fell in love with it. It has so much more fire and personality than the other diamonds that had better angles, percentages, etc. So, again, thank you for helping me make an informed choice!

If anyone lives in the Los Angeles area, I highly recommend Peter Norman, they were really easy to work with and customized my ring with no problem. I added the milgrain on the basket (is that the right term?) but kept the rest of the ring plain and I love the detailing. It took a little over three weeks for my ring to be made.

But now I fear I'm a little addicted to diamonds! Maybe for my 10th anniversary ring I will get that GOG AVC with a Mark Morrell setting! :naughty:

I also used Peter Norman to replace the head on my original platinum setting when the original, thinner prongs got damaged only a few days before our wedding. They did a great job and I was very happy with the service. Just want to put that out there for anyone who's interested. :)

It is gorgeous. Congratulations.
