My Recent Pearl Purchases

It has been a few years since my last post so I thought I’d share some of my recent purchases. Most of them were from CMW or some trusted vendors in China.

First is my most favorite piece, a 11.2mm blue Tahitian set in a ring. Also a pair of mismatched earrings same size. The pictures are taken with iPhone with no photo editing except cropping.

From the same vendor, also bought this strand of insanely colorful Tahitians. To be honest, the time I’ve worn it is less than the time I pull it out of the box just to stare at those pearls.

No they are from a vendor called HaiChen. They are based in Hainan Province in China. They have a store front on Taobao.com and host daily live video shopping to help with selection. They have an fascinating inventory. I’ve bought many prices from them. Will add them to this thread

Taobao has its own app and is completely separate from WeChat. Almost all Taobao sellers use WeChat for communication with customers. Hope this helps.

My most expensive pearl purchase. A strand of certified WSS 11-13mm. Nacre 2.4mm thick. I seriously need to take better pictures. The neck shot was done in a sweater with lots of cat hair

Taobao has its own app and is completely separate from WeChat. Almost all Taobao sellers use WeChat for communication with customers. Hope this helps.

I tried so hard to get WeChat, even enlisting some Chinese friends to help me. No luck! So no TaoBao for me. I will simply admire your beautiful pearls!

Thank you yssie! The WSS strand is from another Chinese seller. His family is in pearl wholesale and he started a small sideline business with focus on high quality pearls for those of us who has an appetite for it. I also bought the following from him - very happy with all!

May I ask where the mabe pearl earrings are from? Just stunning!

The drop mabe earrings are from the same Chinese vendor Hai Chen, from who I got the blue trio and the multi color Tahitian strand, and the triple type mix strand.

After experiencing a necklace brokerage several years ago, I learned to knot the pearls myself. That opened the door to a whole new world! I became sort of addicted. I started to explore some non traditional design.

Here is a loose bracelet set from CMW. I combined it with some Akoya keshi that I bought long time ago. Really like how this turned out.



I like the orbit clasps and any clasps allow more flexibility. Sometimes I combine this necklace with an olive green toned multi color Tahitian strand and wear it as a rope.

My outfit is mostly casual with WFH so I mostly reach for less formal strands - I have not posted them yet

Great collection! Especially the Tahitians are heavenly! If you have more, please feel free to post them, I’d love to see.

Here are two necklaces that I wear with more casual outfits. They are bracelet sets from CMW and I combined them with faceted sapphire beads from an Etsy seller. The beads add just a little light reflection and I find them bring out the color in the pearls.







Sometimes I stack the grey necklace with a full strand of grey Tahitian.

I had another strand of medium tone multicolor Tahitian from CMW. They are smaller than the other strand but also has amazing color. Recently I restrung it with 2.5mm golden beads.

i have used WeChat
an old workmate has a Chinese wife and they use it to message family in China
i didnt have a problem with it and considering im a huge technophobe thats a miricle
